Need some help.

So I ate that big old beautiful mater last night and it was bland. :idunno

It is a hybrid x heirloom (Brandywine x Better Boy).

Is it the variety or the way that I have grown it that makes it so tasteless? It is in a pot and maybe it just gets too much water for good flavor to develop..... I am at a loss.

My SunGold cherries are also grown in a pot and have awesome flavor.
Probably just the type, but try giving it some sugar water for a few days a week.
Hmmm, never heard of doing that, but I will give it a try!
Was it ripe on the vine? I thought I read you brought some in to ripen on the counter?

Um, Dace, you can ship those 'maters this way so I can perform a more detailed investigation.

.......
Just in from the garden! I stopped counting at 14 little peppers, multiple varieties, but the plants are so puny. Let's go, peppers!!!!

It was nearly completely red when I brought it in. I do have a few that I brought in early but all at least 80% red.

I awesome others that were also from my various pots and they had lovely flavor....so I am thinking it is just that this variety is a little bland. I'll use it for salsa rather than slicing and eating!

Garden Harvest 2011

4 lbs 6oz Rhubarb
2 oz Strawberries
1lb 6oz Radishes (4 bunches)
2oz Arugula
1oz Baby Spinach
5oz Bok Choy
6oz Carrots

Update this year. Thats... 6lbs, 12 oz of food i've harvested thus far! Not too shabby if I do say so myself! I had a chipmunk claim my strawberries this year, next year I am getting netting. Otherwise I would have had a couple pounds of that.

No "real" update, other than the plants that bear fruit are all starting to blossom. :)

One of my Cherokee Purples has a marble-sized 'mater on it!
