I had a bit of adventure when I went out to feed critters. I have a pair of geese that free range all the time and one little mixed rooster that was hatched here (he should have gone in the mean roo casserole with his dad but :/ ) He terroizes my goose and the gander doesn't defend her. When I went to feed the gander game up but not the goose - or the rooster who I could hear down in the woods crowing. Got everyone fed, turned the goats back in and Big Jake (my pry) and Cowboy (my buck) went on walkabout  Sure enough I found the goose being guarded by the rooster. As I walked up I noticed her foot was in an odd position. Some how she had her foot caught in the fork of a vine and somehow another piece had wrapped around trapping her foot. Got her foot loose and off she ran only to be herded by the rooster into some nice spiky briar vines :he I reached in and picked her up and carried her up to the chicken yard where she could eat. Oh and Cowboy decided it would be fun to head butt me while I was trying to carry this goose through the woods! :barnie Should have seen me trying to grab him with one hand with the flailing goose in the other

Always an adventure when you have critters :D

:hugs Thanks Farm. We still don't know if they are going to have any kind of service :/ My Uncle went up to NC Tuesday and came back yesterday, apparently they are sending my cousins body back down to Ft Myers to be cremated. I hate that we lost him and really wish that we had been closer.

A while back I made doors for the chickens to be let out to free range, well so far only 3 or 4 hens had figured it out and the rooster hadn't tried :he yesterday when I got home from work the rooster was out along with several of his ladies :ya I'm thinking they have finally figured it out and should start feeding themselves more now :woot

This is how I found my little Anna Apple tree last night :duc all the leaves eaten and it was snapped at the ground. Not sure what happened, guessing it was a deer. I put a piece of rebar in the ground and tied the tree to it, I'm hoping it will grow back together and heal :fl

Mom, 6 yo DS and I went to Ft Myers for the service for my cousin - the service was nice. Spending the weekend with my Mom and seeing family I haven't seen in years was nice.

This week has been a bit stressful . . .

Monday went to work late cause I was exhausted from the weekend. Needed to get gas on my way home, not a big deal right? Wrong! A pretty bad storm came through on my way home :/ It was raining so bad I could hardly see out the truck windows. Got to the main highway (4 lanes) where the gas station is on the other side and the red light was out :barnie Made it across the highway and surprise the gas station had no power :he so I drove back towards town to the next station . . . no power. So I drove up to the next station . . . no power! At this point the nifty little gauge in my truck said that I could drive 5 more miles . . . the next gas station was more than 5 miles away and home is about 30 miles from that station . . . so I told the guys at the store I was gonna hang out with them til the power came back on. I sat there for an hour and still no power :he It finally dawned on my that one of the girls I work with lives close to there and might have a gas can. She and her husband came and picked me up and we drove on into town to Sams and put gas in the can, then he put it in my truck. I finally got home a little after 8 - I got off at 4:45.

Yesterday I discovered that my goats had finished ruining the old fence through the woods and gotten out and down to the ditch. DH got them back in and put them in the small pen they originally lived in. When I got home they were gone :hit I was hollering their names almost in tears when I heard/saw them . . yep outside the fence again! I ran barefoot across the field got them inside and back to the little pen. Reinforced the small pen and they are now confined to the small pen until the weekend when I can replace that fence or string some electric wire, not sure which way I'm gonna go.

I know it's not much but I picked this one mater and couple of strawberries tonight :D

Got electric fence run around most of the woods :celebrate - where the bad wire is that needs replacing, electric was cheaper for now than a roll of fence. My middle DS and DH both got stung by yellow jackets and I ended up with red bugs/chiggars :barnie but we got it done. When we were picking up the electric fence supplies my oldest DS said not to buy a tester that he would touch the fence  He did and I wish I had had the video going  (he's fine) He also tested a riding crop at Tractor Supply - the one shaped like a hand . . yup he had a nice red handprint on his calf for a loooong time  That's my boy!

Couple of pics from today . . .

:ep Wow I can't believe it has been this long since I posted in my journal! I read what everyone else posts and I don't figure anybody wants to read about my boring life

I'll hit the high points:

We've had some rough times the last couple of months - car troubles (we've had at least 1 of the 3 out of commission since October), Jake (my LGD) digging out, paycuts - I think murphy has moved in with us  In spite of the rough times, we enjoyed the holidays with family.

All the critters are doing well. :fl I am really hoping all 3 of my does are pregnant :fl Poor Onyx has lost her place in the herd, she isn't allowed to eat with the others. I was very happy to discover that they did allow her to sleep in the barn with them when it started getting cold.

I really think God is using some of the things we've been going through to teach me to have faith that he will take care of us.
