Happy Friday ! ! !

:frow meaties are doing good . . . they are outside in one of my makeshift grow out pens and it is in the shade so hopefully this lovely heat won't affect them.

My oldest DS is 17 today :ep :hit I can hardly believe it's been 17 years since he was born . . . kinda sad but cool at the same time.

We are having a couple of his friends and some family over for hot dogs and pool time tomorrow. Lots to finish before then . . . finish filling the pool - we started late :he , cut the weeds . . er grass . . again, bake a cake, clean the house, put up volleyball net, buy the food :D . . . okay now I'm tired and I still have to work til 4:30 and then start on the to do list - after I drive an hour to get home.

sure wish someone would give me the winning lottery numbers ;) then I could stay home and take care of my family and raise critters

Happy Friday ! :celebrate

It was 60* when I got up yesterday morning and 64* this morning The high today is only 93* but that beats over 100* like it has been.

DH starts 12 hour shifts today - 6 pm to 6 am :barnie I leave home by 7 am and don't get home til at least 5:30pm so if I am lucky I'll see him for about 20 minutes in the moring on the weekdays he works :( It is what it is and I'll get used to it I guess but right now I don't like it.

Got a couple of mean roos that are going to camp tomorrow :drool chicken yard should be calmer. Meaties are growing like crazy. Goaties are growing and eating back the woods like crazy :celebrate Can hardly wait til they are old enough to breed / milk - so tired of paying a fortune for milk.

My tomatoe plants are finally making baby maters - got about 8 between the 2 plants.

Busy weekend - but I have manage to accomplish a few things :D

Yesterday I dispatched 1 mean roo and then put him in the pressure cooker :D guess who's for dinner? Mean roo noodle casserole :drool Got the baby 'scovies moved to the pen he was in and then moved the dinner chicks to the bigger pen so they have plenty of room to grow. Spent an hour or 2 in the pool with the kiddos. It was nice to play with my boys and chill for a while. Baked some cupcakes with left over cake batter from oldest DSs birthday cake.

Last week DH went to a u pick tomato patch with his Dad and brought me home a 5 gallon bucket of tomatoes :celebrate He's had a few tomato sandwiches and this afternoon I have canned 4 quarts of quartered tomatoes for use later in chili and whatever and I am working on some tomato sauce. This is the first time I have canned tomato sauce. I am up to the "cook and stir til it thickens" part . . . the recipe I was using didn't give any estimated time :he and I like to have a guestimate of how long it should take. I have a habit of looking at several recipes to get where I want to be so I started looking at other recipes and discovered "cook and stir til it thickens" can be 1 1/2 to 2 hours :barnie While searching for the estimated time I found a website where the lady says she puts hers in her slow cooker with the lid off while it thickens so since I still have to feed critters and kids and can't baby sit a pot I moved it to my crockpot :fl hopefully I'll get it done before bedtime tonight :)

Happy Sunday ya'll

I don't do tomato sauce unless I have a loooooong time to spare. Depending on the tomatoes, I'll let it cook for anywhere from 1 to 3 hours or more. And, if I want paste, I'll eventually get to where I'll put it in the slow cooker. There's less chance of it burning and/or sticking to the pot.

I had a hen who didn't go in when I fed tonight so I just went out to close up the chicken coop . . . good thing to cause I had 2 goats outside the fence :barnie A while back I told my oldest DS to get a piece of wire from an old piece of fence laying around and he cut the top off of the fence we had up . . hasn't been a problem but now the goats have discovered a tree just the other side of the fence :he and when they stand on the fence they go over. Guess it's time to fix that spot in the fence :/

I need an "I'm Melting" smilie . . . Just came in from feeding critters and watering tomatoes . . I have to wear long sleeves cause the yellow flies are so bad so I wear long sleeves and my muck boots that come to my knees. With the heat index it is still 101* out there :barnie

Found a lady on CL with some in milk goats she needs to get rid of for $50 . . I don't really have the extra money (or really need another goat :hide ) but I just bought a gallon of milk last night and it is almost empty ! I figure I'll make my money back on her in a month, even if you figure a gallon every 2 days at $4 a gallon.

Anywho . . . took a couple of pics tonight to share:

Cowboy - I think he is a so handsome :love

Thanks Lady Hen - I love the tuft of hair on his head.

OK - called about the CL add with the does in milk . . turns out the ones currently in milk are the small ones :( but she has a full size doe who is bred and should be due the end of August/first of September. Not exactly what I wanted, but way sooner than I'm gonna get milk from my babies. My babies were born in November so I could breed them about the time this one is due if you use the 8 months/80 pounds rule. Still wouldn't have milk til the first of next year . . . What should I do?
