The sun is now shining :weee Me and the youngest DS went to the grocery store a little while ago - had to back my truck through the pond to the little island that is at the bottom of the back stairs. You should have seen me climb from the driver's seat to the back liftgate so I didn't have to walk through ankle deep water :gig

Dace - I already have guineas and they can be pretty loud ;) Plus during the week I have to get up between 5:30 and 6 to get me and the boys ready and out of the house, maybe the birds will help wake me up

Yesterday I did manage to wash DS3's comforters and I hung them over the shower rods in the bathroom :D

Dusa still tries to run the guinea's - mostly at feeding time (she'll also sneak into the chicken run behind you if you aren't quick enough - doesn't mess with the chickens just tries to eat the bread or scratch we throw) so yesterday when I went to feed my birds I went ahead and put her on her leash and took her with me. I clipped her to a corner post where she could watch me and I could talk to her. She was as calm as she could be - I think I will try this for a while and slowly progress to being loose when we feed. I will have to get DH to do it too since he has to feed during the week cause I'm not home till after dark - I really don't like daylight savings :he I know she just needs to be trained since she is a puppy.

Today I want to make some banana bread (got a bag of really ripe banana's at the store yesterday for $1), I want to make some cookies or something sweet and I need to scrub out my freezer - it has been working for a week - so I can put meat back in it. For now I'm drinking coffee and catching up on here :D I'll get to work in a while ;)

Almost forgot - I think the molt is coming to an end - eggs have picked back up and I got an egg from my brown leghorns yester day

:celebrate Molt is definitely coming to an end - I got 7 eggs on Friday - that's the most I have gotten in weeks!

Thursday we got more rain :barnie my rain gauge is only marked up to 6 1/2 inches - it looks like about 2 inches or so from there to the top - and it was to the top. The cowfield at the end of our road was completely flooded - all the way out and over the paved road on Friday morning. My truck got stuck in the yard - down to the axle by the time we were through trying to get it out. Luckily my DH's cousin who works for the power company came by in the bucket truck and was able to pull me out :D

There is a 50% chance of rain today - I'm so hoping we are in the 50% that doesn't get any rain :fl

As soon as I get my tax refund, I am going to order some ducks, geese and the first batch of meat birds . . . the geese and ducks would love all this rain and flooding we've been having :D

What kind of geese and ducks are you planning on getting?

I can't wait for the spring orders of chicks!

Right now, I should have chicks hatching the second weekend in February, and ducklings hatching the third weekend in February. WHOOT!

It's to hold me over until the mail order chicks arrive.

I have buff tufted geese, a pair of them and they are so sweet and I don't think they are loud at all. They are quiet but we will see when breeding season starts. :)

I haven't decided what kind of geese I want - I would really like to have some Cayuga ducks (they're just cool looking). I may end up just doing one of the surprise packages and see what I get.

I really want a bator this year - I have an old cooler that I picked up at the dump to build one out of, I just haven't done it yet . . .

So far it hasn't rained here - the wind is blowing something crazy though so we'll see . . . :fl

Checkin in with an update . . . . I hope soon I will have something to talk about besides rain - I'm really tired of getting and talking about it  - we ended up getting another 1/2" of rain last weekend. The driveway and where we park started to dry up and . . . . yup more rain :barnie started last night, but so far we've only gotten about an inch :fl

It was a long week - I am responsible for mailing the w2s for our employees - over 5,000 - to all of our offices. All week long I have taken calls & emails from people who wanted to know why they didn't have them, complaining about how it was done, etc . . . I get it that folks want to file their taxes . . . I need my refund too, but geez! :barnie ! We spent all day last Tuesday sorting - literllay from about 9:30 - 4 (I took 15 minutes around noon to woof down some leftover speghetti and smoke) They were mailed Wednesday . . . I got them out of my office as quickly as was possible.

Still trying figure out what kind of ducks and geese I want to order - I don't want to spend a fortune or end up with way too many - Cackle has a water fowl special that is 4 geese and 6 ducks that is like $40 but their website doesn't show availability and I want to know when I can get them before I order them :D I sent them an email so we'll see . . .

Here are some pics I took last weekend of the water:
This is where the cowfield flooded out over the paved road:

This is where we park and my driveway:

This is the other end between the house and the chicken pens:

Of course the dogs like to play in the water - Lyssa and Dussa :

I really love my grapes!

I bought a Niagra and a Concord when we bought the house over 20 years ago. A couple of years ago the original Concord finally gave up the ghost, but the Niagra has been producing grapes and shielding me from the neighbor's prying eyes (it is planted on the side of my front porch for porch swing privacy) for all of these years!

I also have a Reliance seedless, from which I make my own raisins, a new Concord and a baby Himrod as well.
