Yes, they do sometimes get bigger after a pregnancy or two. With my sheep I have to milk them with 2 fingers and a thumb. PITA!
My one ewe was three finger and a thumb. the other was two fingers. WE ended up getting an udderly easy (?--I'd have to go check) milker for when we had sore hands/wrists. Didn't use it all the time, but brought it out with us justin case/ :p
$180 :ep Wanna sell your used one for a reasonable price? :D

Yours sounds actually a bit worse than mine was. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Is it the pregnancy that makes them bigger later? Nursing kids? Or being milked? I hope not the being milked part.

I've heard a milking machine can cause teats to enlarge. Is that true, and is there any chance of trying that? Maybe even a breastpump would enlarge her and/or at least make it easier for you?

I dunno. I was always sore milking mine too, which is why I did it seldom and just milked the better doe instead.

I did find getting a higher grip helped -- actually just a bit of the udder in it, but not sure if that's really ok?

I do hope it gets better.

Edited to add: once again I posted without reading the next page (I'm 15 per page) or else took me so long -- don't like to back up and repeat what someone else already said better LOL. oh well. :)

I have large hands for a woman...sometimes it's a curse :p

I think the teats get larger as the doe has more babies. Probably being nursed and milking will help that too. Right now though, it is awfully difficult to do  I tried the higher grip also, and it works better, just still not quite what I'd call good. Those milkers are expensive :( Too much for my budget right now sadly.

If we can't use it for the cow, I'll sell it, but we woudl have to wait a year and a half. Honestly, it was worth the money. We got the milk, and I also have arthritis so it came in handy. bAsically though, It is just a glorified breast pump. And it sure stretches out the teats when you are using it--not sure if they actually permanently stretched.

That is odd for nubian, isn;t it? to hasve such small teats? Even my ewe sheep had bigger teats than that. Hope it gets better.

yes it is odd for a Nubian. I figure it is because this is her first kids and she is young. She's just a year and a half. I hope they get bigger!!! yeah it looks like a glorified breast pump...maybe i could make one with a vacuum cleaner and some rubber nipples  JUST KIDDING ;) I'm going to try to find a used one. :)

would it be too wacky to at least try a breast pump? know I just had a manual one when i had the kiddos, and it only cost me $10. Mind you that was14 years ago.

Well uh...it IS a breast :hu I thought about trying that. I don't know that it would be much different. Her teats aren't much bigger than a humans :p I think I will try that first. I really can't afford the Udderly EZ right now. ANYTHING would be better than what I have been doing ;) I have strong hands, but my hands really hurt when trying to milk her. I even tried alternating and using my left hand for a while and then they BOTH cramped

I think my breast pump held 4 oz. So you would have to pump and dump, pump and dump.Might be a pain, but might work all right.
