yeah my kids side on squeamishness as well. With a healthy dose of laziness thrown in . :p
As parents, are we allowed in this day and age to SAY THAT! The youngest two did help me make meatballs, meatloaf, hamburger patties, and bagged the remaining ground beef. So, I can cut them some slack.
Hey if I have to put up with her, yeah I earn the right to say THAT!! Besides she grins and admits it most times, so I give her other things to do instead ;)

Good on the young ones!! I truly believe you have to catch them early to get them interested. Littler children are MUCH more accepting!!
Last year at age 9 the youngest was elbow deep (literally) in meatball mix and the eldest walked into the kitchen and nearly turned green. She asked the youngest "how can you do that?". The deadpan response was, "it's easy, it's just play doh that smells like meat". Out of the mouths of babes.

There's a bonus here - the youngest is a DD! She can go from from helping Dad with the dirtiest job, and be spiffed up with sparkles and a purse ready to head out 20 minutes after we're done.

The DS (in the middle) is the one I have to ride herd on - I have no problem renting him out.

My DD is like your DS it seems. I TRIED to make a tomboy out of her, but the lazy bone found the girly excuses and it takes more energy to get her to TRY something than it does to do it a million times myself :barnie So, not takin the boy, but the DD I will pay shipping both ways

You are aware of the weather we're having up here - I have a lengthy commute to work and last week we were doing the school concerts things. I asked him on the way to the concert (I literally got home at the same time as the DW and then we loaded up and headed out) if he had fed/watered the hens and collected eggs. He said no, it was too cold and besides they were "my" (dad's) birds. I didn't reply.

I got him alone later in the evening and asked him if he would go through the cookbooks and pick out 12 or so recipes for chicken that he would like over the next few weeks - since noone wanted to help, what's the point, we might as well start eating them if we weren't going to take care of them properly. "you can't!" "yes I can, you said they were mine alone we're gonna have fresh chicken for Sunday dinner". The next day, 15 minutes after he was home from school, he called me at work to tell me everything was done. :) No issues yet.

Had the kids out for the pre-Christmas shopping day (early present to wife). I discussed your "proposal" with the kids. She doesn't want to come alone, so you'll have the DS, too.....probably a "deal-breaker"

The youngest DD *actually* asked what you wanted done.....

 !!!!!!!!! That is just too stinkin cute!! What sweet kids, but you can keep em, because I know what they all grow into in a couple years!! Mine reminded me last night why I dare not want any more. Teen years are upon me yet again, and at 13 I already want to sent her to boarding school :/

We were making up Christmas baskets last night for family, and she popped off about "Nobody wants this junk anyway, they'd rather have storebought gifts!" all because she didn't want to help :smack Why does this particular age have to be so rotten and snotty?!?! Anyway, we then forced the little sour puss to help :p She is getting on my nerves  Hope she wakes up on the RIGHT side of the bed this morning or she'll be stuck in her room for the duration of the party so as not to ooze her stanky attitude all over everyone else's good time.

This is how I feel today ----> :old

Well, DD did well! She finally got grounded from her phone for a week due to her mouth, but then she was great today, very pleasant...I'm thinkin bipolar  JK....she's just SOOO moody!! I remember how it felt to be stuck in 13 but I kept my mouth shut. She has never learned that skill unfortunately.

The party was a hit, the gifts were a hit, and everybody is happy and tired, and that is what counts. Another day to be thankful for. :)

Merry Christmas everybody!
