I am just drying mine in the dehydrator to use for thickening soups, adding to no veggie sauces for higher vitamin content, etc. I think I will grind the dry ones to powder. Bet they'd be good added to mashed potatoes even Anyway, I am experimenting so join in if ya wantkcsunshine said:We got the torrential rain yesterday, but thankfully, no hail. It came down while we were set up at the Farmers' Market - my shoes were full of water before we could get everything loaded back up. Our tent folded in half - the wrong way - and the back of the van was full of water - yikes.
Anyway, I had a bushel of squash that didn't get a chance to sell - how do you dry them and how do you use them after they're dried?
Dh took 8 of the little round ones and scooped out the inside, chopped up some summer sausage with some onion, bread crumbs, and parm. cheese and stuffed those babies. He grilled them until tender. I cut a cabbage into 8ths, wrapped it into 4 foil packages with salt, pepper, and butter and popped that on the grill also. Very good supper. Drats I meant to get pictures.... Oh well, too late now.
I'm a blue gill lover too, btw....best pan fish around.
No fish today I want a big mess of catfish!! I like the blue gill too, but DH is strictly partial to catfish :/
We may go back tomorrow. DD drove me nuts today though. She was very whiney and grumpy and wasn't paying attention to her pole/bobber and kept getting nibbles but when ya aint even watching/feeling for it.....ya get NOTHIN! It costs to gas up the vehicle to go, if she is not going to take it half way seriously...I think I may just leave her butt home next time :/ 14 and could find nothing better to do than draw in the sand with a stick while the fish ate her bait off the hook!
I barely even got a bite :/ VERY annoyed
