My day is getting better. DH gave DD an attitude adjustment...I hate to laugh...but It was a little funny
We are getting the tilling done DH went to a little side job for an hour or so, and got a little more than expected Now we're working in the garden and house together, and DD is helping, grudgingly, but help is help At least she's not still whining and trying to pick a fight.
Burgers for supper, because it's easy.
Tomorrow I get to plant, and I am SO excited to get some more corn going!! We're tilling up a pretty large spot for it, so we will have a good bit if this grows well. I think we'll probably wind up with about a 20x30 spot. DD and I will haul manure, compost, and mulch to spread over it after we plant it in the morning. The old corn and bean rows will be our pea patch next month when we turn it into the soil, and feed the corn stalks to the goats. I plan on planting some Acorn squash into the new corn patch next month as well. I have to get my carrot bed ready for replanting, and pull the remainder of the turnip greens to start that whole bed over again with more turnips. I got the cabbage starts going, and they have sprouted. When the okra and cukes are spent, in a couple months, I plan on making that a winter wheat patch. The front flower beds will be turned well and ammendments added and that will be our broccoli, garlic, and onion patch. I FINALLY have it all planned out, and i just hope we get some Fall produce from it. Oh, and another small patch of Indian corn will be started next week at the lower end of the garden for Fall decorations to sell at the farmer's market, and for feed for the animals this winter with whatever is left. The little sweet corn nubbins I have in the patch that's out there now, will be dried for the animals this Fall too. Not as much as I would have liked to have ready for them, but win some lose some.
The chickens have been LOVIN the tomato and squash ends, and they can pick through the bean strings and ends when I toss them out. In the next few days they'll have some peach peelings to peck at. The goats usually steal the fruit peelings though
Everything is going well here on the little farmlette. We emptied the brooder today too, and everybody is big enough to fend for themselves now for the most part I do have some duck eggs in the bator though, so I will enjoy the brooding break until they hatch.
