May I humbly recommend "The Big Book of Gardening Skills" ISBN 0-88266-796-3?

It was published in 1993, and you might be able to get it cheap (I AM NOT GIVING UP MY COPY)

I love this book!
I have a few books on gardening. I have The Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening. It's my favorite!
Even I can understand my book.. :gig

Is it my connection or are posts seeming like they are taking a long time?
So it's Gardening for Dummies...I NEED that

Yeah they do seem to be kinda slow J. :/

Regarding wasps, I just looked up in my Jerry Baker book his solution -

mix equal parts of ammonia and water in open cans and hang/place around your fruit trees to chase away the wasps.

Also, check this out - I had forgotten that my grandfather used to do the wasp trap thing.

I LOVE making the traps!! I do this every year, but it truly attracts them. It kills them, but it attracts them first....they give me the heebie geebies!!!! I had never been stung until last year, and got stung once a month for 3 or 4 months!!!! :barnie :th

Where do you put the traps?

My grandpa used to put them *away* from the stuff he was trying to protect, lured them away first. It was a balancing act to kill as many as he could, but yet have them as far away as he could.

He usually was able to figure the direction they were coming from and focus the traps over in that area.

I have a funny story but its not funny for mom and my sister. My aunt and I were up weed eating above the orchard and I hit a yellow jacket nest with it. And they were all over me and auntie, here comes Mom and sister running to see what happened and the yellow jackets flew off us and stung them! twice on the leg or back. Its not funny but it is.
