When is your last frost date? Ours is mid/late-April, so I really don't start anything until mid-Feb at the earliest.

Early April I think...Zone 7a. I'm just learning. Since my uncle died I have been on my own with the gardening. It used to be our thing that in the Spring he'd just call out of the blue and say get out there and plant so and so while it's still a good time. I never paid much attention just followed orders. I miss him so much :( Not just for that, but this time of year gets me started thinking about gardening, and him. It was really the ONLY thing we had in common, and I don't remember exactly when his garden bossiness actually came about, but he did that for years before he passed. I guess it was just "our thing." I used to help in his garden and cut his grass when I was a youngun...guess that's where it originated, when I got my first place on my own and could have a garden. Funny though, I don't remember him NOT calling. :hu We raised some of the BESTEST pole beans on his place several years ago...wish I'd saved some seed now. He only planted heirloom stuff best I can remember. Anyway...

If you need ANY garden advice I have a gardener of 76 years just across the way, I will ask her. :)

I don't start stuff until the end of February, beginning of March. I'm right on the boarder of 7A, 6B and if I start stuff earlier than that, it gets too tall b4 I can transplant it. Plus, it's not unusual for me to go away for a night in February. (Horse Expo in Harrisburg.)

I looked again and my last frost date is LATE April, not early April. Good news is I have a MASSIVE compost pile this year from all the chicks bedding/coop cleaning and goat and rabbit poo we've had on this small plot of land over the past year, so I ought to be able to grow SOMETHING!

I planted one year right around Easter, and just as everything was fixing to start coming up good...we got snow  Murdered everything except the corn, but then the neighbors cows got out and ate it :barnie SOOOOOO, I have to be able to do better than that, right? :fl :fl :fl

I think that is what I'm shooting for this year as well. What plants do you start early from seed? I want to do tomatoes, peppers, and a few others from seed, started early indoors.
