Patience, patience on the rush to get to the garden ...I've wasted many hours trying to push things. I like to have my cold weather stuff in by April 15, the more tender things by Memorial Day.

Be careful on the amount of poo in the growing space - it's potent stuff.

My first garden after getting chickens - I had brussell spout plants that were 5 ft tall, 3-4 inches thick, and sprouts smaller than peas. The kids turned the stalks into swords....

It's been awhile since I've really started stuff, so I hope I'm remembering all of this correctly. But I'll start tomatoes, peppers and eggplants at the end of February. Then, the end of March, I'll start cucumbers, squash, melons, etc. Some things I'll start directly in the garden, like carrots, spinach, lettuce, etc. Then I'll thin it and eat what I thin out. I'll also space my plantings.
