They're as fun to catch as the bigger catfish. I have had those on the line and thought they were a small catfish before lots of times. :)

I was thinking of fish for dinner tomorrow. Y'all must have read my mind.

I like to catch sunnies and bluegills. They're much easier to catch than a bass or trout normally, and taste quite good. I grew up eating a lot of them.

They're the reason I wasn't allowed to go fishing when was a kid. I caught too many fish and made the guys look inept :p When I was 8 we were at the river, and nobody was catching anything, until I moved over on the rocks and started pulling in the bluegill. I was the only one who caught anything that day. I wound up with 21 sizeable fish, and I helped clean them, and they STILL never let me go again! :smack

Yeah. You do have a lot going on already. I need to figure out what to put the kids in when they get down here. I want to encourage 4-H and boy & girl scouts for sure. Maybe I can get them in at the YMCA for swimming lessons too. Then there's fishing liscences and all that they'll need. I want to get the two oldest into a hunter safety course soon, and we'll be doing LOTS of fishing this summer :D

I don't recall it, I was young. But my dad told me that one time when we were little we were at my grandmother's friend's house. They lived on a lake. We kids (my 2 older brothers, older sister and myself) were fishing off the shore. We had old bamboo rake handles w/some kind of black line on them. We had corks w/a nail pushed thru for bobbers and were using either bread or worms for bait. And, we were catching a lot of fish. There was a guy in a boat not too far out. He had a fancy rod, reel, lures, etc and he couldn't catch anything! He finally got disgusted and threw down his equipment and left.

I've often outfished people I've been with. We used to have a boat and would go out in the Delaware Bay. My parents also had a boat and put in at the same place we did. So, if we got there, or they got there and saw the other one was there, we'd get on the CB and find out where they were. (This was when our son was little) That way, DS could be in which ever boat he wanted to be in. And, it wasn't unusual for me to outfish everybody in both boats, sometimes catching more than the others combined! I miss having a boat.
