I simply marinate my thinly slice beef in soy sauce (I use Tamari) and Louisiana hot sauce or Worcestershire sauce. I put enough in a ziploc to thoroughly coat and refrigerate for 12 hours or so before placing in the dehydrator. The salt in the soy sauce helps to preserve the meat. Works great.

Do you have to blanche all your veggies before you dehydrate? My dehydrator is second hand and did not come with book. I have some baby bella mushrooms a friend gave me. I have only done fruit up to now.....:hide thanks

I personally never blanch the veggies that I dehydrate. They seem to turn out just great.

Apples!!
We received 5 milk crates of apples yesterday. I'll have 2 dehydrators making dried apple rings all week. :drool I'll also be making applesauce and apple butter too but that goes in a different thread. :)

I like to sprinkle my apple slices with cinnamon. You should give that a try Joe. My family simply gobble them up that way. :)

Guess I will be unique and say: APPLES ! Went to apple country last weekend and picked up three new varieties (new to me). Nittany, Red Yorking and Heaven Sent. Dehydrating the Red Yorking, which are very sweet, yet don't hold together very well. And they were very small, about the size of a lemon. But they make a very tender dehydrated apple. so the tender care with slicing and placing on trays was worth it.

My basil plant is going crazy suddenly, so we have some of that in the dehydrator. This weekend we will be making apple-plum fruit leather.
