Starting to dehydrate veggies for the Christmas soups in a jar. Today: Lots of celery and hopefully I will get to the mushrooms, both white button and crimini. Also did maybe three pounds of jalapenos that I got from a FreeCycler yesterday. Did them on the patio. Sliced with the food processor, wore gloves, now they are in a quart jar.

Thanks for asking.

Well, the heat from the dehydrator kept them soft, but when I turned it off, they got hard, but not smaller. So, I just tossed them in to the hot cocoa mix and let it go at that !

Several pounds of fresh ginger, to make ginger lemon tea for the tummy.

Also, our "corner market" is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend. I got red delicious apples for 10 cents a pound, so half of them are going to sauce and half to dehydrated apples.

Finally got two of the Vidalia onions into the dehydrator. I have three more to do. How long does it take and what temp? I have it at 125, the setting marked for veggies. I figured at least overnight. It is in the cellar. Phew! But having a buck in the backyard puts all other bad smells into perspective, let me tell you!

That is the right temp. Just let them go till they are crispy. They are SO sweet and yummy when they are done you can eat them out of hand.

I have 6 bags of cranberries here DD picked up on sale..I am going to dehydrate them right now...do I have to do anything special to them or just place them on the trays? Her neighbor thinks I should poke holes in them first...:/ thats alot of berries to sit down and start poking holes in...and why exactly do you do that, if thats the case?

I am probably too late, but I was wondering if a quick dunk in boiling water (I would add sugar) would pop the skins? Is that what is done with grapes?
