TeddyRoosevelt and I just finished our small group study at church of When The Game Is Over, It All Goes Back In The Box, by John Ortberg. It is a wonderful book reminding us only people and God's Kingdom are eternal. Everything else is temporary. Ortberg is a talented writer. I highly recommend this book.

I am currently re-reading two books we own:

The Countryside Cook Book: Recipes & Remedies by Gail Duff. This book is about using wild foods for food, drink, medicine, and animal fodder.

Organic Gardener's Edible Plants by Rosalind Creasy. This is a complete "how to" guide for growing over 130 edible ornamental plants. This is a great book for anyone looking to add edibles to their landscaping. (Ex. Think blueberry bushes as house foundation shrubbery.)

I got carried away at the library yesterday:

The Gaia Book of Organic Gardening
The Backyard Orchardist
The Mid-South Garden Guide
Barnyard In the Backyard
Storey's Guide to Raising Dairy Goats
Storey's Guide to Making Cheese, Butter, and Yogurt

I don't have a farm yet but I want to start with as much knowledge as possible. The best ones I read will go on my "buy list". I don't buy a book to read once. I only buy the ones I would go back to again and again.

Ritght now I am pouring through decoratng books and I found a great one called The Scented House that actually has aot of great ideas about how to scent your home naturally AND according to room and decorating styles.

So far I am going for a very simple natural decor with woodsy and spicy scents throghout.

We will be moving in about 70 days!!! I am getting very excited

Slightly OT - but here are two sprays I use occasionally. I am more likely to just put fresh herbs out in vases and bowls in the rooms. Lavender, rosemary, or mint are favorites.

Alert Mind Rosemary Room Spray
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops basil essential oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
4 oz distilled water

Mix well and store in pump spray bottle. Shake well before using. Spray into air, not onto fabrics.

Happiness Blend Room Spray
4 drops bergamot essential oil
4 drops clary sage essential oil
4 drops rose geranium essential oil
1 oz jojoba oil

Mix well and store in pump spray bottle. Spray into air, not onto fabrics. Feelings of happiness will be experienced in about 20 minutes.
