I just finished My Antonia by Willa Cather and I am almost done with Living the Good Life: How one family changed their world from their own backyard by Linda Cockburn. That one is about an Austrailian family that decides to try to go six months without spending any money. Very interesting read!

Ritght now I am pouring through decoratng books and I found a great one called The Scented House that actually has aot of great ideas about how to scent your home naturally AND according to room and decorating styles.

So far I am going for a very simple natural decor with woodsy and spicy scents throghout.

We will be moving in about 70 days!!! I am getting very excited
Slightly OT - but here are two sprays I use occasionally. I am more likely to just put fresh herbs out in vases and bowls in the rooms. Lavender, rosemary, or mint are favorites.

Alert Mind Rosemary Room Spray
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops basil essential oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
4 oz distilled water

Mix well and store in pump spray bottle. Shake well before using. Spray into air, not onto fabrics.

Happiness Blend Room Spray
4 drops bergamot essential oil
4 drops clary sage essential oil
4 drops rose geranium essential oil
1 oz jojoba oil

Mix well and store in pump spray bottle. Spray into air, not onto fabrics. Feelings of happiness will be experienced in about 20 minutes.
This is great! I like them both...Morel, can you share a couple with us ? :D

I love the essential oil recipes! I think I will be liberally spraying my kids' homework area with the Alert Mind formula. Now, how can I sneak it into their classroom, also?

As for books, I'm heavily laden with ADD books right now. There is a very large spectrum of philosophies, and my books range from calling ADD a myth to teaching skills to cope with it, to scientifically supporting the evidence of it and prescribing treatment regimens.

For pleasure reading, I am getting ready to dive into "Salt" and "Dirt." I love these short titles. Last month, I finished "Milk."

I perused and then ordered from a used bookstore 2 books on Soapmaking. I'm looking forward to getting supplies and then diving into soapmaking this winter, and these books look like they will be great long-term resources for me.

You can send the alert mind formula to school with them using scented paper...take some paper they use and put it in a shoebox with a few drops of the alert mind formula...seal in a plastic bag for a week and voila!

Great idea, Morel!

I'm also reading The Soapmaker's Companion, so I FINALLY understand what "saponify" and "super fatting" mean. :D

You're right, pioneergirl! That is a great book. John Seymour also wrote a book called Forgotten Arts and Crafts which is pretty good.
