Got at least 300# of free bread, maybe more. Cost about $8 in gas to get it but will save about $75 in feed costs for the pigs. Also got a lot of restaurant scraps today, mostly veggies and fish. The pigs are FULL!

Good score free :D

I ordered shirts online for Max because I can never find 3XL TALL locally. Surfed the clearance section and the most I paid for a shirt was $6.99. I also googled the name of the place (www.KingSizeDirect.com) and added the word COUPON CODE. Came up with a few but the best deal was free shipping. I was going to get pants too, but they were pretty expensive. Instead I went to Goodwill and struck the mother load :D 2x tall high end sweat pants for $3.99 each. Ended up with 7 pairs. 3 were on sale for 30% off. Also got him 4 shirts. I got myself 3 shirts, some jeans and 2 pairs of shoes. Even got hubby 2 shirts and some jammie pants (Croft & Burrows...those are sturdy!). The total bill for that was around $50.

Foodwise, I packed my lunch. Soup I made from a chicken carcass. I also brought some yogurt that I bought with a coupon :D

Requested the book Good Meat by Deborah Krasner from the library because it was recommended by the gal we got our beef from. They didn't have it so they walked me through how to get it on an interlibrary loan. Well, they can't do that for books less than 1 year old, so they decided to order it for our library's collection based on my request!!! So now I get to read it for free and then decide if it's a keeper or not!

Well, if procrastinating can save money, we did that this week. :hide By delaying when we ordered the flooring for the bathroom, we were able to get 11% of our total Menard's bill back as a rebate check. So, we'll be getting about $67 dollars back in a few weeks. Plus, we saved another $80 by not getting the fixtures we absolutely loved for the bathroom in the oild rubbed bronze, and we agreed to go with the rubbed nickel finish. sigh, but if we had gone with the finish we really liked, then we also would have had to get new drawer pulls for the bathroom, which would have cost us MORE money.

Plus, I get to return a bunch of the unused supplies my brother-in-law had me order, because we had too much, so that will be almost $100 going back towards paying off the credit card. :woot

Made one pint and thirteen half pints of spiced pear butter out of a ten pound -free- bag of pairs. Had to buy a blender to make the Pear Butter-got an Osterizer 12 speed for $9.95 at a thrift shop I walked to. Today I washed my two Schnauzers and tomorrow I will give them haircuts (savings about $80 plus tip). Made a big crockpot of beans with a little ham for flavoring, rice and cornbread. That will be dinner for about four nights for dh and me.

I stopped at the local farm stand and noticed (for the first time! I usually park on the other side) that they have a large box where they put the no longer good looking produce for anyone to pick up to feed animals. When I saw it there were buckets with various things, the one I noticed immediately (for the chickens) was full of green peppers. However, I didn't know what the protocol was, so I asked first, and by then everything was gone :( - except a bucket full of onions. Not so good for the chickens, but I nabbed a few for myself, and will cut them up for the dehydrator tomorrow. So, not much saved, but now I know to look in that bin when I stop for veggies.

Wow! Now that you know about it it could be a gold mine.

When you take your dogs to someone to groom them do you always tip them? That seems strange to me. But I have never been to a groomer. I would think that if a person is working in their own home the cost of the services would include everything. But if you go to a place where the groomers work for a wage then a tip would be appropriate. But I don't know anything about that stuff.

But I'm a guy out in the sticks and if someone says the cost is $10 you can bet that he's not going to get a penny more. If they think they want an extra dollar tip then the price should be $11. I think women look at it differently though.
