Today I 'recycled' an old, burned out candle into a new one! I melted down the wax, put a wick in a mason jar & filled it up. I'm pretty new to candle-making, so hopefully it works! If not, it didn't cost me anything! :)

Way to go on reusing the wax!
My 13 yo made more fire starters for the wood burner yesterday while I was out. He has been saving all of the lint from the dryer, putting them in empty cardboard egg cartons and then he melted wax from old candles that the wick was out of.
I don't like burning wax from old candles in new candles because it just smells like somthing is burning because the scent is all gone in them. I would have to add some more scent to them.

Hmm, I might have to do that on my next try. It actually still smells pretty strong to me, just sitting there in the jar, but I'll have to see what happens when I burn it.

I went grocery shopping so I spent money, but between coupons, store card, sales and comparison shopping I saved over $30 on my grocery trip.

I put some tomatoes in the freezer because they weren't going to be used in the next couple of days and I didn't want them going bad.

I am attempting to make homemade bread right now - we'll see how that turns out.

What are firestarters - how do you make them?

We went grocery shopping today - spent way too much, but hadn't been in 3-4 weeks with things that have been going on. I saved $7.40 with coupons and another $82 and change with store card.

I also bought my first 2 things of canning jars in preparation of my garden :fl

We hung my clothesline :ya

Had a sweettooth today...was tempted to go out and buy a candy bar...instead, I made brownies at home from scratch. Sweettooth cured.

We went and picked up FREE wood from a guy that advertised on craigslist...so we have free wood for the woodburning funace outside. All the lights are off, curtains open, blinds up, windows open.

We always unplug small appliances when not in use..even my electric toothbrush. I only charge it after it dies.

Hung clothes on the line today and yesterday.

We also got our electric bill for last month and only used 1100-THE BEST MONTH EVER for electricity usage. Woo hoo!

I have sold a few dozen eggs or the last couple of weeks and I used that money to buy cloth diapers for the baby. It will not be enough for full time use but it will be enough to save us from having to go out and buy diapers all the time!! So, in the long run we will save a lot of money on cloth diapers!
