I just finished heater for the chicken coop that burns methane.
a while back i made a methane stove for the outdoor kitchen (used in the summer months to keep heat down inside) I get the methane from the chicken poo (after the methane is made the rest is great fertilizer). I figured i can cook with it in summer and keep them warm in winter ...not run the a/c so much or have an electric heater for them and get a great garden. So around here we never call it waste.:D
First of all, :welcome

And you know you are going to have to share how you made a methane stove and chicken poo heater in the do it yourself secton!
thank you so much.
I will ...when i have time to figure out how to explain it in type ...i am more the pointing and talking with hands and noises person

today i started making a new fence out of pallets i was payed to take. (I bought a ugly truck for 700 bucks to make all this free stuff possible but adding up all the stuff i was payed to haul off for people it has payed for itself time and time again.) just bolted them together will prolly paint them later when i am finished. I found some free paint as well. If its good enough for the chickens it is good enough for me ...or as my dad says "hell, we aint taking it to the fair"

I think dads need a little more credit ...all the dads you see on t.v. are idiots have you noticed that or did a few of us just get lucky?

:D "Up until i was 20 my father was such a fool... but , when i was 30 i could hardly believe how much he had learned in ten years"

I went to the goodwill outlet store today and got a second yogurt maker. This one was still in the box with the "special" spoon, it has a thermometer on it with a mark saying add culture, and recipes.
When my sister saw how easy it was to make your own, she wanted a maker like mine. Looks like I got her christmas present already.
I also got three crocks (medium smallish), several canning jars, some plastic bowls, handy for bringing stuff to the chickens, a suffle (sp) dish, that I will use for a watering dish for my kitten, a casserole dish, which will be used for the chickens, a canvas "bucket", good for hauling leaves or wood or alfalfa (free from a friend), gun shot for making your own bullets (will gift it to the friend who gives us the alfalfa leavings from his horse), a nice black velvet jacket (birthday present for DD), a book on self sufficient living!!!! Some great how to info in there - I'll have to share it with you all. And some other things I can't remember right now. All of it for $10.00
I also bottled up my plum wine and some mead I made yesterday.

Farmfresh--Are you a beekeeper, making mead?

I am giving my brother-in-law an 5-quart pail of refrigerator pickles and a couple jars of jelly for his b-day present instead of spending $. It's actually what I do for a lot of my family members--thank goodness they like the things I make!

Goodwill finds:

I bought 10 spoons and 10 forks at goodwill today for $ .20 a piece...they dodn't match, but they will work.

I got another crock pot insert, (crockery) for $2.99. It is the really small (quart sized) ones for dips etc. I am going to use it for fermenting small batches of garlic etc.

I got a dresser, a chair, a mirror, a bulletin board and a new shelf with hooks for my daughter's room for under $30.00!

Bbh, what a great deal. Don't you just love Goodwill?

FIL stopped by today and dropped off a couple of boxes of food. This is the stuff he gets from the soup kitchen, so it is usually just at its use by date or just past it. This included 3 dozen eggs. We have chickens.
So I made an egg, zucchini bake, using 1/2 our eggs and 1/2 store eggs. We can sell our eggs for $4.00/dz. So I like to save them for our customers, when I can. But the store eggs don't taste very good. FIL also brought cheese, so I was able to use a lot of cheese in the zucchini bake. I'll use the 2 gallons of milk to make yogurt. He also brought whole grain bread, which will go to the chickens with some of the milk. The big bowl of cut up fruit, that wasn't quite fresh anymore already went to the chickens. I cannot eat fruit, if it is not very fresh. Especially, if has already been cut up. :sick

SO took an old cover from a broken canopy and put it over the canopy frame that we have with a torn cover. It is a little too large, but it'll do. We use it to store the tiller and chipper shredder and it provides shade for the rabbit.
