Another mooshie one: J's parents have a cute tradition. Every year his dad makes a handmade construction paper animal for their anniversary. He's an architect so they're super elaborate.
Cutest thing ever :love

Some of them are that good. Marriage can be heaven or hell. Depends on which two people are in it. If both peopel have a habit of treating each other fairly- it will be okay. If they are really compatible and both committed to being there for each other- it's heaven. Don't have to explain the other kind. It's obvious enough when you see it.

Nope, its all a fantasy kinda like wanting to live in a yurt or broken down cobblestone - they only exist in your mind if you allow them but for all practical purposes every girl you see is nothing more then a potential ex-wife with your bank account number and a ticket to a so called promise land with a "never worked a day in his life" hippie.

But that doesn't mean you should give up, next week my parents will be married 60 years, unfortunately between us six kids we have 20 marriages. All who are married will probably stay that way because we are just too old to start over. I know I gave away all my stuff and houses twice (plus a huge chunk of 401k) and will not live long enough to buy all that stuff again - one even took all my Doors albums when she only liked rod steward.

My dad has/had ten siblings; out of the 11 of them, only two are still married to their original spouse, everyone else is on seconds, thirds, fourth, one uncle married five times.

My mom's parents are divorced; her mom married three times and to this day is picking up men at bars. My mom's brothers and half of her step brothers all have kids but none married.

I guess marital bad luck runs in my family.

Not necessarily true, though your family sounds like mine, there is always hope for us eternal bachelors. I may talk a mean story after two failed attempts I pretty much gave up and am too busy now finishing this house to flip so I can build my new one, but after that and because humans tend to be a social animal I will entertain the thought of finding a partner when all is done. This time I will look for a woman who shares my interests, which was my mistake in the past. When people say choose a mate that matches your personality and not just on looks they mean it (just make sure you have a secret Swiss bank account).

Trends run in families because they get their example of how to behave from each other. But if you live differently, you can find a mate that you'll be happy with.
Think about how alot of those people behave. You wouldn't want to spend your life like that. Your standards are different, so you actually have a good chance of ending up happy. And not behind bars.

My parents are divorced. Dad is on future ex-wife # 4 right now. Mom remarried and has been with the same guy for years. My brother and I are both married and have been with our spouses quite a long time. Little sister has had several long term relationships, but never married.

Hubby is 1 of 8 kids. His parents divorced around the time he went to college. Only one of the kids isn't married. All that are married are still with spouse #1. Even his parents got back together eventually.
