Close call on the lappy! I spilled water on mine once (thank the feathered gods I wasn't drinking juice or a soda!) and had a freak out. I immediately tipped it up and poured the water off into my lap (durr...) and then shut it off because I could hear it getting into the fan and the sputtering freaked me out. So I grabbed a sock or something and mopped at the excess moisture, until I finally realized I wasn't sure entirely what to do now that I'd done that. I turned it on briefly to look up some cleaning and drying instructions, and then shut it off and spent and hour lifting the keys, drying everythign with q-tips and paper towels, and finally using a hair dryer on low heat blowing in through the vents and all around the keys to get everything truly dry. I didn't actually think to take the battery out. When i turned it back on, everything was tip top, and the sputtering had stopped, and I had a very clean looking laptop. :p

Leinies used to be the super cheap crap we bought when we couldn't afford Old Style :D

Then they went all craft brew and came up with some really great flavors.

I have some of my critters up for sale. Hopefully I will get a response on my craigslist ads. The trio of white quail, and a pair of my ducks need to go. The white roo and brown roo HATE each other. Last week there was blood in the pen. Dwayne (white roo) got his but kicked by Romeo. Good thing quail heel fast. Plus one of the white hens is wicked loud!!! Holy cow! She is pretty and a great layer, but she never shuts up! The other white hen is nice, quiet and a good layer, but the brown roo won't mate with her. Apparently he is a racist!

As for the ducks, I am trying to rotate out some of the older hens and I also want to get rid of the drake. He fathered the 3 babies I am keeping plus there is another clutch under a broodie.

Once I get these sold I can place an order from sandhill. Then i will have a drake from a new bloodline. We don't need inbred, hill billy banjo playing ducks around here!

:D

We go tour the Leine's lodge every year...so we can get free samples. ;) I love Honey Weiss, it makes delicious beer bread.

That beer was nom. I had four. Way more than I have had in one sitting in a long time!

In other news, nothing like a series of small medical issues to illustrate a gap in knowledge and supplies. First there was the cat and his pinkeye. Abi gave me an eye wash recipe so tried that out. Helped a little. Then I did some more research and came upon boric acid. It is used in prescription eye treatment. It is also in plain old $2.39 saline solution. So I bought some. We used to have a bottle around for eye wash in case you got saw dust or dirt in your eye, but we used it up and I never replaced it. Now I will make sure we always have a bottle. I've treated the cat a couple of time and there is even more improvement.

Then there was the splinter on my foot. I stepped on something. I thought I got it out, but days later it was really hurting and puffy. Trying to get the splinter out I noticed something. I am not as flexible as I used to be AND my eyesight sucks. So does hubby's. Not only do I need to have antibiotic ointment, needles and tweezer on hand, we need to add a magnifying glass to the first aid kit :p

Then there is hubby. He has psoriasis. That causes breaks in the skin which makes it easy for him to get staph infections. He has a boil right now and it is driving him nuts. Since it is on his inner thigh, it is making working difficult. Thanks to a thread here on ss, I learned about black salve. So now I am off to Walmart to get PRID. If it works as advertised, it should be draining by morning.
