I am SO unmotivated to job hunt.

:p

I think it's the knowledge that the resume and cover letter don't really matter when there are a thousand applicants to any position, so they probably don't look at anything.

*sighs*

Which makes me try to understand motivation and ambition because I've never had any, but people make a big deal out of them. LOL. Then again, I'm not good at engaging at all. This world is this big 'out there' that doesn't interest me in any way that counts in surviving it. *stomps off grumbling*

Maybe your motivation should be finding a job that interests you, or making your own job doing something that interests you. Just because this world is a big "out there" place doesn't mean you have to conform to it Abi. :hu Be yourself, we like ya that way ;)

LOL! It's a cute idea, but I do have to eat.

I cannot think of any job that interests me that I'd be capable of getting. Analyst jobs require at least a bachelors.

Even doing the: pick any job and just pretend you could get it, I can't think of anything outside of research I'd enjoy.

So I just try to make rent :D

Keep trying, you haven't been looking that long. Sometimes it takes a few weeks/months before the right opening comes up. Just keep looking at the openings and sending out your resume when you see something interesting. In this market you cannot expect to get snapped right up. In the meantime, you are working, so that still looks good on your resume.

It's the looking and applying part that isn't going so well *giggles*

I'm trying to motivate to do that part.

Why not give yourself a calender?

Sundays check the papers and other leads
Mondays fix up and send out resumes
Tuesdays: check Craig's List & internet job listings
Wednesdays: fix up and send out resumes for CL ads
Thursdays: save reserved for interviews
Fridays Try to drop a resume at someplace not advertising but that interests you.
Weekends: OFF!

Why don't you try a schedule like that, then you don't feel guilty since you know you are trying regularly.

Abi, in all seriousness, let's look beyond the "paycheck".

What do you WANT to do for a career/job?

I don't know. The whole job hunting thing is just overwhelming. I'm surprised I ended up doing the schooling. My biggest motivation on job hunting is to not have wasted the money.

I think I'm just tired.

I do want out of my job. Maybe I'm just lazy lol. Job hunting takes a huge amount of effort. And I still don't get it at all. I dread getting another application and starting from scratch again about how to do it all.

I still can't think of anything LOL! I've been trying to answer that question for 30 years :D

Most sciences interest me. Research and analysis interest me.

I like patterns and puzzles, but I'm not sure I'm actually GOOD at math or anything. I didn't get good grades at anything in school. I did all right in history when we were analyzing. And I know for sure I can't do the schooling for it.

:idunno

I know what I do NOT like. I cannot stand customer service. *laughs*

Yeah, and there are those of us in the same boat after decades beyond where you are right now!!!!

I hate interviewing and related process more than I dislike my current job. :D

SD posted a good idea - get a plan together that you can get your head around, doing things in chunks. Celebrate the little successes.
