I find that when children are left in my care for too long because "We just lost track of time!" it helps to feed them a lovely slurry made of mountain dew and cotton candy :D

and the shiny works for SO as well except it's not so much shiny as it is muscular

*laughs* That is pretty evil. Sugar up the little beasts if parents run late!

Mission accomplished!

I had a black and white dragonfly batik. So I poured red and purple in blotches all over the white dragonflies. Some are barely covered, some all red, some purple, some both. Total randomness. WOOT! It should look awesome. It's going to be a calf length full circle dress for autumn.

I had 4 tshirts. One is wine, one is amethyst, one is red-purple, one is amethyst-blue.

The halloween costume is in purple dye.

We'll see what happens! Tomorrow night I'll run it all through the wash with synthropol (the only time I use chemicals - gotta make sure the dyes come OUT OF the public washers. !!!) and dry them and see how they do!!

The purple for halloween is wool and is supposed to take an acid dye. However, it fits me perfectly (thrift store find - was a man's suit, it is now a vest) and was dry clean only. Which means if I acid dye it (boil it in hot water for an hour), it will shrink.

The procion dyes "can give a splotchy look" but that is fine. It's for the mad hatter. I was considering tye dyeing it, but if it is gonna splotch anyway, then I just dunked it in purple and wadded it up into a bag LOL!

eta: well crud. I am red and purple finger to wrist with splotches on my feet and legs... I don't mind that.

SOMEHOW... Amira has a big purple splotch. These dyes ARE toxic. So I keep wetting rags and wiping at her until she stomps off lol. I'm hoping I can get MOST of it off before she takes her bath. I scrubbed her til the rag quit turning purple. :gig

It is fun. And messy. And you have to expect mistakes.
