We have an autistic boy in our church. He's highly intelligent, but at the same time, you can tell he's "different". There have been times that he has driven me nuts w/his questions, but at the same time, I cannot imagine going to church w/out K there. And, as he's gotten older, he has calmed down a lot. My feelings on K? I love him just the same as all the other children in the church. (And, they all know it!)
Our priest's oldest son is autistic. Most people don't know. I noticed him sniffing things one day and figured it out, then his step mother told. Every single time he comes to church he sniffs his prayer book and hymnal before he opens them. He finished grad school last year and is currently teaching English in Korea. Amazing guy!
abifae, you're like a breath of fresh air after being in a stuffy room. You're one of a kind and don't forget it. Relish every bit of your "differentness". We like you just as you are.
I'm going to pass out now. I am VERY tired. I had my Imooto over for two nights and we made pickled beets and mushrooms and hung out and I'm so done now, after working all day
