I think I know what you mean. I'm a little hesitant to post about medical help because my chickens will NOT be going to the vet. More extreme cases get a date with the old stump out back, which is hard enough. I don't need to have the input of 10,000 other possible opinions.

I was reacting to comments such as

people out there waste time, money and love on animals and have no compassion for their fellow man

I gather (?) that whatcha don't like is that ppl are spending that time and $$ on animals instead of using that $$/time towards helping their Fellow Man.

If so, how is this any worse than ppl spending the same sorts of time and $$ on clothes, or makeup, or vacations, or hobbies, or electronics, or any other kind of nonessential discretionary spending? (instead of donating to charities, the needy, etc)

Whether a person has compassion for their fellow man has nothing, really, to do with how much money/time/energy they put into their animals. Some do, some don't, some more some less... and you see the WHOLE range of degrees of compassion towards fellow humans across the WHOLE spectrum of different attitudes towards animals.

To me, its misplaced compassion and a sin to love animals more than you love your fellow man. Of course, that's the Christian in me talking and some folks don't feel that way, I know, but I do...therefore my expressed disgust with the BYC scene. Not asking you to agree....just stating my take on things, is all.

I am not the type of person to handle more compassion for an animal and be horrible to humans. I hear ya on this....of course not all people are like this...some love pets to death and are the kindest to people too...but I know exactly what you are referring to!!

I agree with you completely...no, I'm not a christian, and have very different views on a lot of things, but I completely agree with you on that point. Show more compassion for the animal that your fellow man....sad really.

I hear ya on that....hot flashes aren't as bad for me right now but any still aren't wanted..LOL...definite hormone swings here big time too
