You'll be able to clean it out in another day or so and that will get rid of the smell. :D

I have moved 6 to the brooder... the other 5 are still too wet. Hopefully they can be moved by tomorrow night... they will have to be moved regardless!

I think there are 6 of the "racing stripe" chicks, 2 black ones (one solid, one with a white dot on its head, like a barred rock) and 3 buffs. Can't wait until they are all dry and fuzzy!!

Still no movement in my bator. Today's supposedly hatch day...

Good thing I had baby goats to take my mind off of it!

Well the 11 are in the brooder. They are excessively cute.... seriously. I'll get pics at some point I hope (supposedly I am out getting packed for my trip that I leave on in about 16 hours... but nope, here with the chicks).
A 12th one zipped last night, but I guess the chicks in the brooder stomped it and tore a vein or something, there was more blood than the others had. The others I think got cold... with the wet chicks in there stomping they tore up the little plastic thermometer. I figured it was ok because no changes had been made - but I think it got cool. I put more warm, wet paper towels in and took the chicks out. The humidity is back up but I don't have a thermometer.

BABY GOATS?!?!?!? I'm on my way!!! (there better be pics!! ;) )

Ya know...in my mind it's sometimes good that those last ones don't make it. I try to think of it as survival of the fittest. Only the strongest chicks will make it out and if they don't survive due to one reason or another maybe they wouldn't have made it as adults....

Just my reasoning anyway.

I had to tell myself that this morning because I saw it pipped yesterday evening and felt guilty about not hovering over it like I did the others... :(

Speaking of the others.... I don't have cute baby goats, but the next best thing - fuzzy chicks!
Under their red lamp so it isn't really clear

I'm betting the black ones are roos. (they are 2 of the ones I want to keep :D )
