It is refreshing to meet someone who is fluent in SS, in the flesh. I guarantee you, it doesn't happen often for me.
Daddy summoned 2 hours ago....I went. He seemed to be in a positive mood. Little brother paid him a good visit and they discussed plans for a new house. Glad to see him happy. He spoke of going to Mom's 50th class reunion, if one of their friends would take him.....he hasn't missed many, so its almost like his own class by now. He has a month and a half to get enough strength and mobility to prepare for it.
Bought some crawfish from a young couple that were fishing them outta the parish canal, that runs thru my yard (and other's). All our kids were here. Showed DD #1 the asparagus patch. Can't believe I have to wait another year before I can harvest a little. Its almost too tempting.
Well, yesterday I put duck and goose eggs to incubate for the Easter hatch. Today I put in araucana eggs for myself.....to improve my flock, and separated hens so I know what is pure breeds and what will produce sex links for the Easter hatch. So I began saving eggs, which I will be putting to incubate in a few days.

Sounds like a good plan on those eggs. Glad your dad is happy too :) I sure hope he gets to go to that reunion, I think it may be good for him to go and share the loss and memories with folks who knew her so well outside of family.

Wild night. Text of Dad with kidney problems, so began treating with herbs. Home by 8pm and watched movie with kids to get them sleepy, then Dad called telling me to go over if I wake up during the night to check on him, even if its mid-night. So I get a missed call at 2:17 from him and at 2:30 from emergency services. All he wanted to do was reposition himself and I needed to unlock the door. We settled him down and he went to sleep.....I stayed with him for the rest of the night, resting on the sofa. Also brought him to the lawyer to deal with the will. Kidneys are doing better now and Dad has a new tea he likes the taste of.....corn silk. PT in the morning. DS will spend the night with him and take him.
Difficulty with water line pretty much finished. I now have a pretty complicated water line. It will be hard to remember where, exactly the line runs. I"m thinking I will plant a small herb bed over the T that branches off, going to the house and the barn.....dat will at least be a landmark, so I know where something is. Well, I have a faucet near the garden and another in the barn. The one in the barn is high enough to allow me to put a sink under it, which is cool because sometimes its nice to wash all the feeders and waterers.....biosecurity and all that good stuff. Well my chickens only gave me 8 eggs today, which I'm still saving for the Easter hatch, so that really stinks, so gave extra rations when I picked up the eggs and hoping for better tomorrow. Guess I will put the chicken eggs to incubate by the 7th or 8th.
Sold my last extra drake today and let one of my ducks go with him, so I still have 5 ducks and a drake and one happy customer. Same young couple I bought crawfish from a few days ago. And they brought me crawfish peelings to give my chickens.
Lately, it doesn't look like there is enough of me to go around. Hoping March will be nicer to me than February was.

Thanx DD. He just called to make sure he had to go to therapy....reassurance given. Hoping for a good productive day. I suspect that my brother will be getting back together with his ex-wife. They both have their problems and I can't fault one, without faulting the other. I just hope they both realize what they each did wrong and have grown up enough to see to it that they don't repeat the same mistakes again.....if we come to that.
I'm into my last 16 hours, before my work week starts, so whatever half-way big project I wanna handle needs to be handled.

Grrr.....only 10, so I gave them a little dogfood, as well as their wheat and they still have crawfish peelings. They all have lots of water. Oh well, I wouldn't have had enough to even sell a dozen for $3, but lets say that of the 10, I get 3 that hatch out......which would suck and one is a SL roo, one is a SL pullet and one is SR RIR......thats 6 bucks right there. But hoping for a much better hatch rate than that; thankyou very much. Even if all 10 are SL roos, thats still 10 bucks, instead of not even getting $3.
Only 2 are araucana eggs today and I'm not selling those to anyone. Must improve my flock of aruacanas.
Got word from one of my facebook friends that he has fixed my kindle screen and will be returning my Blue Araucana roo.....claims all his girls have gotten lots of lovin. That was a pretty good barter on my part. I gotta give him 20 bucks for the screen, but his work cancelled out the roos services.
Daddy had a hard time at rehab today because of a contracture on his left leg. He is so desparate to correct it that he has a light weight on his thigh and calf, with his foot elevated, to force his leg straight. I gave him one of his nerve pills with his night meds to help him cope with the torture treatment he is subjecting himself to. Also rubbed him down with muscle rub. He is claiming no kidney problems, what-so-ever.
None of Momma's seeds have sprouted as of yet :( I spent time in her herbs a few days ago. Completely wiped out all her garlic chives and parsley. I may be sorry, but I got to thinking that I chop garlic and put it in olive oil in the fridge for months.....so I chopped the chives and did the same. I may not have months, but I did use it in my omlet today.
Well, its time for me to set up brooders. I am brooding 7 araucana chicks in the hatcher for the past few days. Well, it was cold, so at least I knew they were safe. But I need more room for them now, so gotta hook up some power to the barn and give them some 100wt lights, newspaper and feeders and such. Gotta get the portable brooder under the house for my sales.....the araucana chicks are locally, top secret, so they won't be viewed by my customers. Really hoping for a good amount of rumpless babies. Regardless, I think I gotta replace my flock and have some younger birds. I need to hatch and hatch and hatch until I have a few good ones to choose from.
Also, on a related topic......I don't care for all that stretching out of extention cords. I'm wondering if I get one of those $500 to $700 solar power kits from Northern to put my barn off grid, if that would be sufficient to support a few brooders and what little else I do in there.

Did you plant all the seeds? If not, maybe try chilling some for a few weeks, or soaking some for 24 hours B4 planting.

Or nicking them with a knife before planting...

Appreciate the tips. I'll try them both. My life is crazy today. I think my familys' brains are all in maximum overdrive. Too many people thinking too many things at once and not all of them are making sense.
