I know what you mean! One board that I'm on has a forum for bragging about your accomplishments. I can just imagine the responses I'd get if I posted I butchered my chickens!

Did a little beekeeping today! :woot I went and put on a super on our remaining hive and I inspected there. I think they're gonna make it. They still have a deep box to fill. I doubt we will get any Fall Honey but its worth a shot. Hopefully they will produce next year! :fl

Ive been trying to sell my red roo today. No luck :( I need to get rid of him I want pure buffs and buff crosses next spring. :woot

Guess what were having for supper? Homegrown coleslaw!! :D Cabbage was a little young but the mix mom got was whangy. :sick So she cut three cabbages (tiny ones) and I went and got the food processor and some fresh carrots and wa la FRESH slaw! :drool Any types on preserving chopped cabbage?

I have to finish cleaning the coop tonight, and sow a seed bed. Plus sow winter carrots. Then I need to call and find out if I sold those ducks. And maybe try and sell Big Red.

I emailed Cackle earlier today about their FFA discount. I can get it on 30 birds. I was wanting to order 25 meaties. We aint really got room for 30. But I guess I could order something else. Maybe some Cochins or Welsh Harlequins..............who knows :hu

Get you some ducks with those meaties.

I dunno about preserving fresh chopped cabbage any other way than sauer kraut. However you can bury your cabbage heads for winter storage. You pile them upside down, root and all in a part of your yard that'd be safe, and bury them under about 3 feet of leaves or straw, and top it off with dirt to keep it packed down good. Dig a little hole at the bottom of the pile to retrieve via gravity feed, your fresh cabbage heads all winter long. :hu It's what I'm gonna try if I get good production on my cabbage. ;)

Ive also got a root cellar type thing so I could probably do that.

Yeah, you could root cellar them, but if you need extra space, now you have an alternative to root cellaring ;)

Why doesn't she like Welsh harlequins?
