The Milles each have one swollen eye. The one hen seems to have some breathing issues.

This is my fourth waterfowl (3 ducks and a goose) that have had limping issues. I treated one drake, but the others got over theirs. This duck wasn't getting around well at all. She has a big knot but no sign of an injury that would have let in infection.

I can't understand what in my waterfowl yard would be bothering their feet. I have grass, mud, small and large river gravel that is smooth, and a small concrete apron that mainly the geese get up on. All the water tubs are smooth edged.

Nationals would be fun to look around at. Tell R now to ask for the day off. :D

Well, I lost that little Mille Fluer d'Uccles hen yesterday. The roo is looking well and was eating good last night. The other hen still has matted eyes. I started her on the Duramycin 10 last night. She isn't gasping like the other hen, and I did get her to drink a bit.

This morning I walked into my waterfowl yard (completely fenced area but open top) and found a KC duck dead. She had some blood coming out one nostril and a soft shelled egg beside her. Otherwise, there was no injury and her weight was solid. I can't figure out what killed her. All the other ducks and geese seem fine. She was laying on the gravel in the area where the night light shines. :hu Now I may have to keep more of those young KC ducks than I thought I would.

My brother came yesterday afternoon and finished up all the mowing on my place and the rental property so that we are ready for winter.

I didn't get the help I wanted in moving the call duck pen, though. :/

Actually, I'm quite sure it was Baby, the one that survived the coon attack at the neighbor's house and found her way home again. :hit

Ducks fought over and ate that soft-shelled egg. :/

Going to buy a rabbit cage tonight. Comes with very large male gray rabbit. :D I need the cage and not the rabbit -- unless he happens to be a rex. Owner doesn't know about his breed.

I want the cage, because I need another one to house my new bunnies and because this one seems to have a built in tray below the wire floor to catch droppings in litter. Looks worth the money alone. Plus rabbit comes waterer, leftover food, and bedding. :D Here he is: http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/grd/1435801750.html

OH he's very cute!! And he'd make beautiful blue babies with my blue doe that I got when we were up at Meyers........

If he's not a rex, he can come here! :D

And yes, I'd say the cage is worth it! :)

Wow, this bunny is huge! And get this. . .his name is Fluffy. UGH. :gig

He is more of a Dumbo the elephant. :D

I've never eaten rabbit, but I have to confess, when I saw him I thought he'd make a great meal.

And another jumbo thing at my place. . .

This morning I found a JUMBO duck egg, but the odd thing is that it was in the crate in an area where my young KC ducks are confined. These guys still have a few fluff feathers. I can't image one of them laid it, but I can't see where my older ducks (or goose) could have gotten in that area. :hu

Inspected the duck again last night, and still no obvious reason for death. :idunno But my remaining 2 Mille Fluers are responding well to treatment.
