Bee, so happy to hear the good news about your dad and mom and that it went so smoothly.
I think you gave your mother some good advice about your siblings, to use caller ID and that she is entitled to shut the door in their faces, if they cannot be nice and supportive of her.

Good thing your garden wasn't worth much this year, or the cattle episode wouldn't be so funny. Sure some good Christian neighbors you have there.

There is a reason for everything........ :D Maybe the reason my garden is bad was because the cows were gonna thrash it, who knows? :hu :p

Can I say that even if the reason is because I'm a crappy gardener? :D

Denise, you know that old saying:

Standing in a church and saying you are a Christian doesn't make you one, any more than standing in a garage and saying you are a Cadillac makes you a car!

 :gig

God was giving them the opportunity to prove it, I guess! ;)

Its all good, you know? :)

I think I would run a little "electric" insurance wire along that property line in the future! :D

I love how OTHER people's negligence causes damage and then they have the nerve to blame you. You are right - just turn the other cheek... and install a hot wire. ;)

Nope! Funny how that is.....I live a very sedate existence...really, I DO! :)

I think I'm just a magnet for trouble. In my younger days I was a bum magnet.....BIG TIME! If there were a needy bum within a 10 mile radius that needed a mother....well, he found me.

Now I just collect stray trouble in the atmosphere, I guess. :p

The same night of the stampede the dogs had a ferocious fight up in the orchard with something at least as big as they were.....either a stray dog or coyote. The other dogs down the way were barking a lot and then my dogs, Jake included, started a bark.....and then the fight was ON! I almost yelled, "Arliss, get your gun!"

I never did see what was going on up there but it was brief, violent and my dogs don't have a scratch. There are no dead dogs in the orchard this morning....so I guess we won. :hu

Whatever it was, it won't be trying it on this property anymore!

Seriously LOVE having the biggest, baddest dogs in the neighborhood running free on my place........ :D :bun

I love that one. I hope you won't mind if I use it from time to time. :gig
I know tooo many "good Christians". Which is one reason I became a pagan. I seem to know more about the bible and christian customs than my so called christian friends. SO included!

It seems that you, your sister and your mother have taken a leap of faith and have been rewarded.

When I was in a support group many years ago we had a slogan that I absolutely clung to, especially when things got extremely difficult. "let go and let god". It got me through many difficult times. When my younger brother was arrested on a labor day weekend and we couldn't get to see him, to find out what happened, I went into a panic worrying about him. The only way I could get to sleep was to say that slogan over and over again and to trust it. Things did work out. Of course my version was: "let go and let the gods handle it" ;)

I had heard it as 'Standing in a church and saying you are a Christian doesn't make you one, any more than going to a mechanic's shop and saying you are a mechanic!'

Both versions work I suppose.

Bee, your journal is always so interesting. I'm sorry I don't get here more often, because I really get behind reading and can't catch up. :D

Interesting to hear your mother is moving in. I live with my mom (well, I own the house and she helps with the bills). We have not been apart as many years as you and your mom, and we get along very well.

Standing in a church and saying you are a Christian doesn't make you one, any more than standing in a garage and saying you are a Cadillac makes you a car!
This is so true. Can it be part of our lazy modern American existence that we don't want to work for anything? We want grandfathered in to our wealth, freedoms, rights, and (sadly) our salvation. We just don't know how close we are to losing it all.

I could stand in my garden and say I'm a gardener, and, boy, it really doesn't make me one!
