Hello, my name is Black Betty Lambalamb...

5_100_0059.jpg

...I am a laying mash addict. It has been...er...um...a few hours since my last hit of laying mash. I struggle with the disease every day and most of the time, I lose the battle. I will sneak, steal and bully to get my fix. I worry about what this habit will do to me....will I grow feathers, lay eggs? What will I tell my lambs when they find out their mom is a mash ho? Thank you all for listening. Our next meeting will be held right after the PISSI meeting on Mon. night. Good luck to you all!

Yep, if I didn't do that the wind would blow the chickens right out the cracks between the boards! I'm so glad old poop has sealed some of the cracks in the floor..... :p

I agree with you on those saddest things ... mostly. If I thought the average fish was smart enough to know what it was missing I would agree with you completely!

Some animals are, however, the exception to the usual rules.

For example we have (actually he lives with my son now) a pet cockatiel named Corkey.

Corkey was a rescue bird. His first home was with a little old lady who had Alzheimer's. When she first got him she taught him to talk and spent good time with him, but as her mind went she got meaner and meaner to him. She would take away his food and throw things at his cage when he made noise. He was rescued and re-homed to us by her family when they discovered how he was being treated. :(

When we first got Corkey, we spent a long, long time working with him to help him over come his fears. We stationed his cage right beside the dining table so that we basically sat down with him and visited at least twice a day EVERY day. He would try to flee and bite anyone near his cage at first. Finally he settled down some, but he would NOT leave his cage and you could NOT get him out without a fight.

Finally I bought a cage that had a top that could be removed and simply took the top completely off of the cage. He lived like that sitting and moving around in his cage ... maybe occasionally sitting on the top of the side, but NEVER leaving it for over two years.

I finally gave up and realized he NEEDS his cage for "protection" against the mean outside world. I just bought him a BIG cage.

We have had Corkey for about 15 years now. He sings and whistles to us. He talks and comes to the side of his cage for "kisses". He will let my son handle him. (But ONLY my son) Corkey will not leave his cage - it is his choice so we honor it.
