I've enjoyed reading all your comments about church. As you know I am pagan, but I think we all have the same basic moral feelings. The things you state are one of the reasons I am pagan. There are others. But I eally feel a kinship with you, who I see as being true to your religion, not just paying it lip service ore being pew warmers. I practise my religion every day. I speak to the goddess everyday and ask for her help in making me a better human being, to make this place a better place for everyone. I do as I will and try my darndedst to harm none.

I'd probably be helping you with your wood ministry Bee, if I lived closer. I'd be outside too, cutting or stacking or loading the wood. That's more my style ;) Boy those church folk would really be talking then, me, another woman out there with my pentagram hanging around my neck, helping christian people get their winter wood!!
I have often helped out at FIL's church. Because doing the right thing has nothing to do with religion, it has everything to with being a decent human being.

Get ready for a rant! :rant
Religion and Christianity are NOT the same thing. Some people are VERY good at playing religion, but are NOT Christians!

Jesus ate with the sinners. He healed the sick. He was a doer. He did not talk behind peoples back nor did He rejoice in another persons failings. It was not about a person's clothes or money or status. Jesus was interested in the heart of a person.

Christians are the body of Christ. Our body is the temple. We have no Mecca to travel to no building we must worship in. The Holy Spirit indwells us. We can communicate with our GOD no matter where we are. That is a good thing!

We are supposed to gather together, however. This gives us a means of support on this earth. We are supposed to fellowship with other believers and give of ourselves, our personal gifts and our blessings to help each other out. A lot of churches out there play the religion game, but Christ will know our heart in the end.

Very well put. Christianity doesn't happen in a church building but is a way of life.

You all are great! Having a religious discussion on my porch without me??? :D I'm here now....roll on with the sermons and opinions and rants.....I love it! :)

I agree with y'all. We always have such a hard time finding a church and really haven't found one in which we "feel the love" no matter how hard we try. I can put up with pretenders, the hypocrites, the backbiters and the joykills....unless they are the majority of the congregation!

I'm always hoping that my presence and example to the good people of the church will somehow open their eyes to how they should act....love unconditionally~ regardless of race, religion, clothing, social status, looks or intelligence.

I still love the folks who aren't really "feeling" their christianity, but I don't necessarily like what they do. :(

I've raised my kids to love everyone just the same and they notice how the church folks act and are kind of sad about it but they try to spread the love and joy also....mostly it falls on deaf ears.

We even have openly prejudice people in our church....one is the husband of a deacon! :th

I really feel we should fellowship with other children of God, as the Word says to do, but I also consider my fellowship with you good and wonderful people counts in that category! :love

Very well put. Christianity doesn't happen in a church building but is a way of life.
Sort of like love, huh? Not something you say, but something you DO every day. Words are nice and they say a picture is worth a thousand...but I happen to believe our living example is the picture of our faith and our love.

Wish we could all go to church together....show up in our jeans (what I wear quite often to church), our sandals, our work shirts and hats, farm boots and barn coats. Out under a clear blue sky or beside a warm fire, laughing and rejoicing in the miracle of life and love. Wouldn't that just be the berries? :weee

Aly, sorry about your misty day....I have those sometimes and everyone tells me it's hormonal. I get more of them as I get older, so they could be right! :D
