Bee, I just butchered my first 2 chickens on Saturday. It was tough, and they do not have those big brown eyes. But I do appreciate the animals God provides for food and that my hens had the best life I could give them in my yard. I'm also glad I now know how to make use of that animal.

So what do you do with all the offal? I was going to give it to my outside dogs, but I didn't.

You are a wise mountain sage Bee. That is why we all love you so. :hugs :love
Can we make that my new title??? :D Thank you so much, Farm, you lightened and brightened my day! I have been feeling very, very blue today and yesterday....may be hormonal, may be the weather, may be a number of little things piling into a mountain on my chest.....but this too will pass! :)

Becca, I will be using the organs for my dog food I'm canning up for my older dog who has worn teeth. The other offal will be placed where my chickens can get at it and have a good time picking through it. They simply LOVE drinking the blood of other chickens and will fight for chicken offal.

Thank you, Dace! I am hoping the same thing but I had to come home and give an attitude adjustment to my teen and that, like killing an animal, makes my heart and soul ache. You would think a person would get too old for a spanking, wouldn't you? :idunno

My mom said I handled it better than she ever did and said she was always at the end of her tether and in a towering rage when she finally had to spank a kid. I told her, "I know, I was there...usually getting the whipping!"

I've always tried to approach such things very matter of factly, calmly and reasonably. It's a job that I do not enjoy, so it's best to just get it over with without a lot of fuss and muss. :(

I saw.....and they didn't do one for sheep, which is pretty pointed, IMO. Who usually talks about sheep and organic over there? ME. I get the message loud and clear, so I will contain my sheep husbandry to this journal.

I also noticed the threads they were "cleaning up" never made it back to the forum. One I could understand, but mine only had a few funnies and sarcasm....to me they are purposely doing these things. I won't be participating any longer over there.

No, I bent him over the couch and used the belt. Too big for my lap and one can't get a good swing in with a large kid on one's lap. :/

Well that works for us all here, I am sure....more Bee time. I think we prefer to not share you with *others* :gig

I love reading of all of your adventures. No idea if little sheeple will ever be in the picture for me but I sure enjoy living vicariously thru you .... and I learn a lot along the way :)

They probably started with the sections that had the most reports on them. I thought the sheep people were on better behavior usually than the goat people over there.

I don't mind if you stay with us. :bow We can learn and laugh with you while they do their thing over there. :clap

You guys are the berries! :D

Here's a sheep thingy to report.....my boss had a bottle lamb ram her daughter raised this year. Now, these folks are like my sis, they collect animals of all kinds, anything they see that makes them go "Awwwwwww" comes home. They don't know how to care for them, mostly, but they do it anyway.

They have been letting this sheep eat horse feed. :th

Yes....you guessed it....it became copper toxic and died. Last year it was a fawn that got seizures, mysteriously, and died. My sis does this too.....she has had several "Awwwwwww" bottle lambs die on her place later because she didn't read up on the proper care of sheep. Bottle calves also.

Both of these individuals are proclaimed animal lovers and "could NEVER kill one"........

It saddens and sickens me. All that compassion and no common sense to go with it..... :he

Sorry....but when I heard this today, I had that sinking feeling in my stomach once again and I recognize it as disgust. I hate feeling that way but these are both the very same people who disparaged me when they found out I was going to butcher Two Bites at home. Implied I was being cruel. :duc My sis even offered to take Two Bites to the Death Farm so she can grow up with the rest of her cows......
