NOT loopy....I love the snow too! :D We are supposed to get some tomorrow but it doesn't sound like we will get enough to really matter.

I do hope we get a white Christmas this year....it would mean so very much!

Well, spoke to my returning soldier and he wants to butcher Two Bites while he is here! :) What a good boy! Gonna help mom kill her unfatted calf........ :p

I've decided it would probably be best....that crazy calf is riding my sheep down to the ground! :rant Isn't she a bit young to be coming into heat? Anyway, the Bettys are heating up and are wagging their tails in front of her and standing for her and then....WHAM!....down comes her heavy weight on their backs and they almost hit the ground. :somad

Dumb cow! :duc

Saw an ad in the locals about a mini-potbellied pig for $25.....got to thinking..... :p

I had read an article once about a small homesteading venture that was using potbellies due to their size. Said they were easy to process on the homestead, easy to work with, prolifent breeders and great to work with.

Anyone here ever use a potbellied pig for their intended purpose? Food? :hu

My old next door neighbor had a potbelly pig. She was raising it in the backyard. Doubt it was legal but I just laughed about it and fed the compost pile some of it's "recycled food". It escaped often. I guess hunters got it eventually. Make your fences Strong so you don't pay to feed some strangers family.

I have heard that lots of Pot Bellies get turned in to the Animal Shelters and can be re-homed for a low price - straight to the freezer!

So many people seem to buy a cute little pigglet and never think how it is going to be having a minature - but still well over 100 pound - hog living in their house. A woman I work with now (very prissy) even had one, but "got rid of" it when it became aggressive with her daughter.

They are supposed to have a lot of bone for the meat ratio and are often obese, but why not?

Yes, UTC! We are getting a gorgeous, lovely thick layer of heavy snow!!! :weee :weee :weee :ya :celebrate

AND...the most important part of this lovely winter treat? I don't have to go OUT IN IT!!!! No work today! :celebrate

The Bettys are very puzzled about where the grass went and seem very forlorn. I will take pics later of all the snow on their little fur....love, love, love to see them eating their new, green hay on a snowy day.

We have snow, we have snow, we have snow!!! :bun :bun :bun

hey Bee!

heard that WV was getting a buncha snow! we have some too - couldnt believe it when i went out this morning!

and yes! pot bellied pigs = food. a lot of asian countries use them - they are small and easy. there is a website of a somewhat local guy who raises and sells them. he's also got a sense of humor and posts all the hate mail he gets about 'those poor widdle pigs'... um... sure they are cute until they are, like FF said, big and nasty and in your house.

or you can just ahem.. man up (wink!).. and getcha some big ol pigs!!!

yay! pigs! i'm eatin liverwurst for breakfast and i think i died and went to heaven.

I love the snow,..it makes the world seem to slow down. We are all nestled in today also, no need to go anywhere.
