Oh I love snow....I am so happy that you love it too!

Enjoy your cozy day, all snug in your home with your family, a fire and some good food!

I wish I was there!

Dace, I have been out in it all morning until now! It's a wet and heavy snow...perfect for snowballs and snowmen! :) I have been plugging in heated buckets, fluffing bedding, dishing out treats and putting last minute touches of lights and such to my nativity. This snow really created the perfect backdrop for my little nativity....tonight it will gleam softly with the story of Christmas to comfort road-weary travelers. :love

This snow is falling softly onto the waiting world and frosting every surface with a layer of sugary white. Every tree and fence post graced with lacey finery like a fairy kingdom. The mountains stand proud and tough in their mantles of snow, ageless and full of secrets. I can barely see them through the veil of snow, but their shadows still watch over my little homestead. They comfort me with their sheltering arms.

The road is softly silent and the dogs are dancing for joy! :weee

The chickens are purring contentedly in their little red coop, scratching the seeds out of the bedding and grooming their feathered coats, like little old ladies fussing before a big event.

The cats are nestled by two into their wool blanket on the porch settee, dreaming of mice and voles. Cats always seem to look warm when it is cold outside, don't they?

The sheep are puzzled and miserable...they can't seem to believe that their green world disappeared in one night and they gaze forlornly at the ground wishing for spring. A cozy pen full of dry bedding beckons them to a feed bin full of fresh hay, but they are determined to stare the grass back to being. Poor Bettys..... :(

I hope you are all warm, dry and cozied into your homes today. Today is a day for hot cocoa, popcorn, card games and good books. :)

Bee you are a fantastic writer. Why don't you write a book?? You have the talent and you shouldn't waste it.

The snow here is only coming in spurts at the moment. We have got about 4 inches so far. It is a lovely vision and I too have been busy outside taking care of my critters. My dog, K.C. and I, had to have a snowball fight, she is a riot! Both my youngins have terrible colds right now so they could not go out and play with her, so I did. She is a yellow lab and she loves to play fetch and she too loves snow as I do. She helped me feed the ducks and take straw to my chickens. Now everyone is happy,..especially the chickens,..they love scratching in all that straw. It helps them from getting so muddy in their lot, poor things.
I hope we get more snow tonight,...another day of play! :ya

Thanks, UTC...seems I HAVE heard that somewhere before! I have lab mix dogs and they really love it when it snows....seems to set off some trigger inside that gives them exuberance aplenty! Labs are great dogs, aren't they?

I love getting all the animals tucked in for a cold day or each night....makes me feel good to know everyone is settled and content. :)

FF, I hear the call....one day I will heed it, no? :p

FC, don't your chickies purr? Mine do! In the turkey-calling world the sound they make is called a "purr".... I love that sound. :)

Bee labs are the greatest aren't they? I hope you don't mind, but here is a picture of my old gal. She is 6, same age as my daughter. She is the best dog ever,..she loves my ducks and chickens. Who would have thought a bird dog would like birds?? LOL! :gig This is after we played in the snow today. Her name is Krystal's Clover Honey or K.C. for short. :love

She's lovely! She looks very trim and fit for her age. I think they do better if one watches their intake, as labs tend to become obese in their later years.

My first and best dog ever was a yellow lab....I'll never love another dog like I loved that one! He was the most amazing animal I've ever known.

I don't mind you posting a pic of your life, UTC....I LOVE pics of other folk's lives. It gives me a place/face/animal to go with the stories. :thumbsup

My dogs don't exactly LOVE my chickens but they do tolerate them very well. :p

For an all around, all-purpose good dog, my money is always on a Lab! :love

Labs are wonderful. We used to have a lab/pit mix that wanted to be a Mommy. He was gentle with the kitten, the puppies, and the baby mice. We had to give that to the kitty behind his back. He had a crazy attitude if he thought somebody would hurt his family though.

Labradors are a great dog. We have her and another that is mixed. He is black and is mixed with chow. They both are great with my kids. K.C. always used to watch my daughter when she was little and make sure she wouldn't go to far. She would actually herd her back into the yard, now she does that with my ducks. She loves to mommy everything.
