Bee I will pray for you to have good weather this weekend on your day trip to get your DS,...Greenbank is not far from Snowshoe(the ski resort), it is soooo beautiful up there. They get all the good weather too! Cass railroad is up that way too, we plan on visiting up there again this coming year. It is great, you get to ride a steam engine to the top of Gobbler's Knob, the highest peak in WV. You can see 3 states from up there. The day we went, it was in September on my sons birthday about 7 yrs ago, it was so foggy you couldn't see your hand in front of you and it was like 35 degrees! LOVE that part of the country! Matter of fact I am with you, the eastern side of the state is the place to be.

BTW,..thanks for the compliment on the house! It was and still is a labor of love.

Don't mean to sound stupid, but was does a Dorper sheep look like?? I seen yours on the other threads and they are very pretty. I have always liked sheep and goats, but haven't had no luck aquiring any yet. Are they easy to care for???

Thank you for the prayers, UTC...they are always appreciated!

A Dorper sheep either looks like an all white hair sheep...stocky and meaty, or they have black heads like a Boer goat. I'll show you a handy link to hair sheep breeds that show a pic or two.

http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/sheep/dorper/index.htm

Right now there is a Royal White breed that has been started here in the US from a Dorper/St. Croix cross that seems to be the all around thing....plenty of meat, no wool, the hardiness of the hair breeds, the easy mothering of the St. Croix. I'm real interested in this breed as well.

Bee I am going to have to do some research on sheep. They seem to be very interesting. I have always wanted goats, but who knows, I may go with sheep when the time comes. That link showed some beautiful breeds,..:love Around here when you see sheep they are usually just those plain ole white sheep, nothing interesting. It will be a must to look into. Thanks for the link!

Hey! I have a pic of the week pic....cool! :D

Sheep have so much character and they seem so much more easy care than goats.....if you skip on over to BYH you can read some of the horror stories about goats. They sound too wormy, always having problems with anemia, bloat, difficult births, mastitis, bottle jaw, or some such ailment. If they are so darn touchy and hard to raise, I always wonder why in the world anyone would go to the trouble...unless they just love goat's milk! :)

Weird....two of my sisters had goats when I was growing up and they never had any of the problems people describe over there. Goats must have really changed in 20 years..... :p

These sheep are so easy to care for and they have really turned into distinct personalities, they don't try to get out of the fencing and they keep the lawn mown smooth and green. Best decision I ever made about a livestock animal! :)

I was wondering what this would look like with a rich brown sponged over it.....would it come out like an Italian villa, ya think? All those warm, golden brown hues they use have always fascinated me. I would love to have a parchment effect going on.
Hey, bee. I did something similar in my kitchen. The base was dark red/maroon. Then, I did a coat of glaze. Over that went a coat of lighter red, which cracked on top of the glaze and exposed the darker color underneath. Not a very good description, but I thought of it when you mentioned parchment...

My sis did that once but she used totally the wrong color of brown on top....I think those crackled surfaces are very pretty! It would be really neat if folks could post pics of their different paint treatments so that we could view SS ways to have a distinctive, one of a kind wall treatment.

We are racing against time with this paint treatment....must get the hallway and living room painted completely and the carpeting laid in the hallway before Son #2 comes home.....want to have the house all freshly painted and decorated for Christmas before this next Saturday! :)

You are so right Jules, if I had read that stuff on BYH before I had gotten goats.. NO WAY!

Glad mine aren't THAT hard to raise - must be my magic touch, right? LOL.

Thanks! I will have to take the befores.....the befores for Mom's room were accidentally deleted, which is a crying shame as that room was hideous! The carpeting had been laid in 1968!!!!!! I was 2 yrs. old when that room was painted and carpeted....... :th The walls were baby poop yellow and the carpeting was green and gold.....ick.
