I'm going to experiment this weekend with the suggestion about sponging....although I might use a different texture than a sponge.

This could use up both the off colored green and the caution sign yellow.....will keep you posted!

Who knows? It could turn out to be quite a lovely effect. :D

I used a Walmart bag ... just scrunched up, dipped in the top color and splat, splat, splat.

Turned out amazingly well. Just remember to keep the bag in the relatively same shape throughout the process to keep the color consistent.

And about the chicken house ... trust me the inside of my hen house was far from smooth.

OOOOHHHHH BEEEEEEE, they put your sheep journal back up over there!!!!! :woot

Make sure the walmart or whatever brand of bag use is inside out, one bag I used for "sponge" painting leaked it's "dye" out onto my wall.
:)

That is because I politely asked for it to be cleaned up and returned to the forum, as I felt like it had some good info. Unfortunately they cleaned up some of the good info, so I will have to put some of it back. I couldn't understand why they hadn't opened it back up, as there was very little "bad" things there....just a few wisecracks about the current threads. So Nifty returned it.

I was thinking of using either a bath buff puff or a piece of burlap for the over coating of the paint....haven't made up my mind yet.

Practice on the shed! (.. or a piece of cardboard ) See which one makes the print you like the best.

I went with the plastic bag because it allowed the most background to show through.

Another tip ... Have everything ready to go and just "rag" the whole room at the same time. It goes really fast and you will get the best results that way.

At my BIL's house some dumb person painted his dining room all steel gray semi gloss. It was very depressing looking. I took the same technique and used cream paint over it with the Walmart bag. Then we painted the trim work the ice creamy color. Now everyone comments on how beautiful the room looks. It really resembles marble!

I was wondering what this would look like with a rich brown sponged over it.....would it come out like an Italian villa, ya think? All those warm, golden brown hues they use have always fascinated me. I would love to have a parchment effect going on.

I would get a little brown paint and try it on a hunk of cardboard. Then I would try the brown down first and sponge on the yellow. Sounds VERY interesting to me.

Well, we have our first frozen pipes today.....yay. :/ And, wouldn't you know it, my sis called this morning and asked if I wanted a couple of deer to process if they got some today~last day of doe season.

Of course, I said yes.....but the lack of water to clean knives, cutting boards, etc. will be a real pain.

At least it's cold enough that I can let these deer hang a few days and this may be the time it takes to get water back into the house.

So.....may be getting some good meat into the house before Christmas and be able to make up a large volume of "animeals". :ya

Hope those pipes thaw today....I'm scroungy and need a shower. :p

I haven't been to your porch for a while. No way I can catch up on everything. Did read the last couple of pages though.

Sorry about the frozen pipes. I hate it when that happens.

hope you get the deer meat. That would be great. My stepson got 2 this year. Both with his truck. LOL Only got about 30lbs out of the last one. The first one he split with the guy who helped him clean it at midnight. I could sure use some more.

Talking about your brown and yellow paint. I don't know exactly how to do it but I bet there is a load of info on the web. There is a process where you paint your undercoat (brown), then wash the yellow over it for an adobe type finish. You could dump that school bus yellow off in a 5 gal bucket, mix in some white and maybe a little of the brown to tone it down. I may be way off base with that process since I have only seen the finished product and never researched it. But maybe worth looking into.
