I haven't been to your porch for a while. No way I can catch up on everything. Did read the last couple of pages though.

Sorry about the frozen pipes. I hate it when that happens.

hope you get the deer meat. That would be great. My stepson got 2 this year. Both with his truck. LOL Only got about 30lbs out of the last one. The first one he split with the guy who helped him clean it at midnight. I could sure use some more.

Talking about your brown and yellow paint. I don't know exactly how to do it but I bet there is a load of info on the web. There is a process where you paint your undercoat (brown), then wash the yellow over it for an adobe type finish. You could dump that school bus yellow off in a 5 gal bucket, mix in some white and maybe a little of the brown to tone it down. I may be way off base with that process since I have only seen the finished product and never researched it. But maybe worth looking into.
2Dream, I will definitely look into that....adobe yellow/brown sounds lovely! :) :frow

The deer have not arrived, so I would say they probably won't.....which means Two Bites just got a death sentence. :p

The pipes thawed out enough for us to collect mongo water and store it in the cellar~which is something we should have done long ago, but I'm not real on the ball this year. I will take a shower next, because ya never know...... :D Could be my last chance for awhile!

This experience happened to us last year for about 3-4 days. This is another reason I really need to get a hand pump on my extra well. I might get the boys on the job of retrieving that old deep well pump next door and getting it installed.

Hey Bee,..how ya doing??? I hate to hear about your pipes freezing. That is such a pain. It has been so cold, hasn't it? It got down to like -10 degrees here with the windchill. Unbelievable for this time of year here. This is more like Jan. temps! At least it is supposed to warm up for a few days. :clap

Have you started on your painting yet? The yellow and brown would be nice! It would be like an Italian Villa right here in WV! The marbled effect would be lovely,..In my other "house"(I use that term lightly) anyway,..I had chocolate brown walls in our bedroom,..I sponged over them with an off white ( a mix of leftovers ) and it was very nice. The chocolate was flat and the other was HG enamel. It gave it a nice textured look and hid a lot of flaws. I love painting and I agree with you when you do paint everything is so fresh and clean. It is just a pain deciding what colors to use. I myself like the darker more earthy colors.

UTC, I've never had the nerve to go with dark colors...I think some houses want those and some really need to go light. This house needs all the lightness it can get, as the rooms are small and the windows are standard sized, low ceilings abound throughout.

I'm thinking of going with a dark color in my office, though, as it has windows all around on two sides. I was thinking of the warm toast color for the walls of that room with the white trim, linoleum that looks like stone. I can only paint two walls and they are half walls...the other walls are white siding as this used to be the back porch of the house. This room is small and normally pretty cold in the winter, so I'm hoping it warms it up a little. It also doubles as the mud room, so the browns will come in handy. :p

Never thought of that aspect of using brown. I should paint my whole house brown, incuding the floors, porch and get all brown furniture. The dog is brown also, so the dog hair would be well camoflauged.

Yep, all brown would work good for me. LOL

 Yes! I agree!

I will definitely try the marbling effect on this little room, just to give it visual interest. The walls I will be painting are cement block, so they already have texture, so the golden brown with a sponge of yellow should look a little stucco-ish, I'm thinking.

You know the very best thing about trying something new with paint. If you really hate it you can just paint over it. I think thats why they invented Kiltz.

So you are picking up your son this Sat. in Bluefield??? Man that's a good hop, skip, and jump for you girl! I know nothing about buses and such, but isn't there a terminal closer to you? Or was it cheaper just to drive down to pick him up?? Wow! Im glad he is getting to come home though! I don't know, it would be a nice drive. We take off and go to the craziest places sometimes just to get out for awhile and spend the day,..mostly driving. It is fun though, my kids love to have a "day trip" as they call it. The last trip we took we went up on Cold Knob, its in Greenbrier county, right next door to us you know. We went up there to look at the windmills they are putting up for the new power plant,...anyway,..we go and we are gone ALL day,..we get LOST up on that mountain! Now let me tell you there is nothing or nobody up there,..just God and those windmills for miles. We finally found our way out, scared to death we was going to run out of gas,...we ended up in Richwood in Nicholas county. Thank goodness we got out off there. We were like a few miles from Summit lake, our favorite fishing hole. :hit And no poles to fish with of course! Oh well,..we had a blast!

I love those kinds of trips! The kids and I have had some mighty neat adventures just taking off and driving around.

No, all the bus terminals are three to four hours away...both in WV and VA...can you believe it?

Saw your place on BYC....very rustic and homey tucked into those trees! Very pretty! :love

We went whitewater rafting down the New River this summer and found this nice route down the eastern portion of the state....no mountains, just farmland and cute little towns, so I chose Bluefield instead of Parkersburg or Charleston terminals. Six of one and half a doz. of the other.

Plus, we are going to stop by a sheep farmer's place in Greenbank, near the observatory, and check out his Dorper sheep on the way back through. Two birds with one stone, as I wish to buy a ram lamb off him in the spring.

Love this side of the state as opposed to the other side.....big valleys, higher mountains, prettier farms and prettier rivers.
