FF, that is a totally excellent idea! And I will take that and run with it but I'm afraid to do it with this hide.....this one tore when we were pulling it off the calf. It is very thin and tender. Are the sheep's hides similar?

If they are, then this will definitely be the solution for me.....I had a real icky feeling about washing fleshy things where folks wash their clothes! :sick

Our local car wash is VERY high pressure. I guess I could test it out a little and see if it would tear it.

Thank you, dear friend! As always you offer wise counsel.

About the stars...I've seen satellites quite often and they are generally moving perceptively and in a path of their orbit. Mom said she awakened around 2 am and these stars were in the same place, relative to the constellations around them. They were in a different place in the sky, of course, due to the Earth's rotation...but they were still giving a good light show!

I hope they are there tonight! You know, when Ezekiel saw something similar, it turned out to be an angel....gives me comfort to think that perhaps angels are up there watching over us. :)

Wow Bee, I am just trying to catch up on everyones journals....you have had so much going on there. As for the little cow..I just know I would not be able to do that here. Hubby would never help with that. I can't even get him to butcher chickens! Damned city guy! LOL
As for the sheepies...yes, they do know when a flock mate has gone missing. I have been dealing with this myself....with the loss of the 2 Ewe's. Its so sad, to see them wander, calling, and searching. Breaks my heart. They do get better tho...over time.
Mine seem to be calming down now...and have started eating better. We are supposed to get weather in the 40's for a few days...maybe this will help everyones spirits. :)
J, still waiting for that 40 degree weather here...I think it comes tomorrow! :celebrate It was a veritable heat wave today at 36!

Ugly Betty is still crying towards the neighbor's cows. Black Betty seems to do her mourning in quiet and just seems a little mopey. I thought they would get over it by now but I guess sheep just take their own time to grieve.... :p I've been giving them little treats and such to baby them around a little.

About the cow...pretty soon these boys will be gone and it will be just the Bat and I when we want to do these kinds of things. There won't be many changes, it will just get done quicker and more efficiently!

You don't need that hubby to do yer killin', girl! :thumbsup And, it just may make him walk a little straighter line if he finds out you can kill with ease...... :gig

You're right, BB! That udder was worth the scrolling! :th :ep

Even if a person wasn't interested in milking, this is a ewe that could really feed some youngin's! I am really wanting to develop udder size in my small herd also. If I happen to get a gal that is a milky ewe, I plan to keep her and breed for that characteristic.

I love the horns also....that first ram is the most beautiful sheep I've ever seen! Now, I think some of the ewes looked a little thin, but it maybe was just the pics.

Beautiful sheep!

My sheep skins were pretty darned floppy, but not really that hard to tear. I think they actually left quite a bit of flesh on them when they skinned the sheep. I would give the car wash a try on the hide, just start at the bottom of it and stand back away from them some. If you have any problems just stop right away.

I also kind of held the wand thing at an angle to help strip away the fleshy bits.

:hide I also went at night so the city slickers wouldn't point and stare. ;) :gig

  I bet you did! They would be posting flyers around the neighborhood, asking if folks have any missing poodles! :p

Heck, around here they wouldn't look twice...they would think I was washing out my seat covers!

I am TIRED of city folks poking their noses in my business.

Sometimes I just take a small action and solve my problems.

Example.

Several years back my sister (who was moving) gave me a registered white Persian cat that I swear was crazy. This cat would poop and pee EVERYWHERE! I can not have THAT sort of thing in my house - not at all! The cat had been a barn cat at her house before and I found a friend with a barn in need of a pretty cat, so I thought matters were solved.

Then it happened. The cat escaped out the door and ran away. We hunted for a whole weekend and when we finally found her, hiding scared under the neighbors porch, she was COVERED in FLEAS!!! Well I called my friend and she could not come pick her up until the weekend, so I had to do something with her.

First I gave her a bath. Then I shaved her hair all short and put on flea treatment. Then I needed to find her a safe place to stay for the next two days until she went to her new good home. Aha! The rabbit cage in the garage. So in she went into the recently vacated rabbit grower cage hanging in the garage. This was a double size cage with a plywood resting board, a litter box, food, water (all the necessities) hung in my shady garage. The garage door was open to help it stay nice and cool.

Evidently a nosy so and so saw the cat in the cage and decided she was being mistreated and so called the animal control. The officer came to my house to check out the complaint, found no problem and went away.

Now I am MAD! Like I am going to mistreat an animal! :somad The nerve!

That night my friend came and picked up her new barn cat. That night I went down to the basement freezer and took out a nice WHITE rabbit pelt that I was saving for a craft project. A nice white rabbit pelt with BLOOD stains on the neck and down the back. I thawed out the pelt and nailed it on the front of my garage! :ep It stayed there for several weeks.

Funny I haven't had any other neighbor complaints! ;) :D
