I noticed that, Dace. :D

Nothing to offer???? Are you crazy, lady? :p With your cooking skills? Your recipes and cooking methods could fill one whole chapter...with pics of the finished products and all the healthy ingredients! What is a book for women without good recipes?

I can't cook a lick! :D I am queen of the one dish wonders and I make a mean loaf of bread...but that's about it. :/

Went to get that lumber and saw it for firewood today. Hauled it all home the first trip! :celebrate It won't hold us for long but it feels good to have some wood in the shed....we were down to absolutely nothing but some scraps on the floor. This lumber comes from seconds lumber at the local saw mill.

Someone had taken the bundle of lumber I bought, so I had to take an old bundle that had been sitting there since this past summer. Some Deliverance-looking guy came up to us while we were cutting it up to question our taking it.

Jon tapped me on the shoulder and said someone wanted to talk to me, so I gave the chainsaw to Jon and walked over to him. He had been mouthing at the Bat that the lumber we were sawing belonged to someone else. I told him I had paid for a bundle of lumber at this place and I was going home with a bundle of lumber. Explained that the last two I bought had been stolen from this place and I WILL be taking this lumber today! :duc

He didn't have much to say after that....guess he didn't want to argue with a lady with a chainsaw.

I think I know why that bundle had been there for so long.....it was full of black walnut boards and I'm figuring someone was curing them out to use for finer things than firewood. Tough tacos, says I..... black walnut burns great! :D

Never argue with a chainsaw, redneck! :tongue  :gig

Morel, I believe that was Georgia..... ;)

But, trust me, coulda been filmed here as well. Don't mean to make fun of these folks but there is an inordinate number of folks that live here that have hairlips, crossed eyes and cleft palates. They have kept their genetic pool pretty concentrated by denying any influx of "outsiders". :/ I started noticing this after I had lived here only a little while and it can only have one explanation.....small gene pool.

I expect this fellow also figured a lady had to be a pretty mean cuss to make a little old lady get in firewood on a blustery, cold day like today! Little could he know that the ol' Bat is a tough little piece of sinew that could work circles around us all and not break a sweat.....

The Bat has started answering the phone as the "downstairs maid".....she is a riot! :gig

I have only ever seen one family that resembled anything close to deiverance:>) they were in Walmart here one day. My family does have it's own genetic problems though haha...and DH calls me his hillbilly because of it :p
Your mom sounds like an amazing woman...boy I can only hope I am half as healthy and energetic at her age!

Yeah, I've already given her my burial instructions....we both know that she will outlive me.... :p

I almost hit her with a piece of firewood today~accidentally, of course~ and my son said, "Hey! Be careful! We don't want to be Batless! Do you know how many people don't have a Bat in this world????" :barnie

I was very amused! Nope....I don't want to be "Batless" any time soon. :)

I envy the relationship the two of you have. :) How blessed you both are! I hope you have a Bat in your belfry for a long long time!

Me too, Farm! Although she did tell me to "Eat dirt and die!" the other day! :D Gotta love the old Bat.....

Plotting out the garden and it is a lot tougher than I thought to do all this companion planting. Will really have to be on point about succession plantings also.

Anyone tried pelleted seeds? I'm looking at buying some carrot and lettuce seeds pelleted so that I won't have to thin. Any trouble with germination when they are pelleted?
