I'll be sure to take plenty of pics if I get to go. I would love to take care of the children and babies....and it will most likely rip out my heart to have to leave them.

Perhaps just "BEEing" there is enough. You go and the doing happens along the way.

Hey Bee I just wanted to chime in and say that I too think you would be great in some sort of mission work.

We are going to Haiti in July and our church has taken two groups there already, one last summer and the second group just returned.

We are working with an orphanage to help rebuild after the destruction of the earthquake and our church families are sponsoring many of the children to pay for their education, supplies, food etc.

Our Pastor just spoke about Haiti today, and about how God uses the most unlikely of us to build His kingdom. No matter what your talent you have something to give! Whether an RN or just a humble servant of the Lord.....it makes no difference. All that matters is that you go when He tells you to!

We heard stories today from 3 15 yr old girls who went, 3 middle aged men, our Pastor and his wife as well as an eighteen year old girl. The underlying theme in all of their stories was not about the great things that they did while in Haiti, but how their lives were changed and how God reached out and touched them in a profound way thru this service. As soon as the message goes up on the website I will PM a
link to you!

Thank you! I never really considered overseas missions before as I was a strong believer in stateside missions, particularly those right in one's own community, first and foremost.

Then I started to hear how eager these other countries are to hear about the Lord and Salvation...and I've seen just how hard-hearted and hard-headed our own countrymen are to this message. Seems like one should really try to reach all the souls who are searching and stop casting our pearls before swines.

I know that sounds like copping out because spreading the message is so hard here in the states, but one grows weary of hitting one's head against that same wall over and over. It sure would be nice to have it cheerfully and hungrily received and watch faces glow with a new light! :)

I don't know, BB....I don't do well in hot, humid climates. Big girl gets hot! :p

I've often thought about all these orphanages that one reads about where the children never get held and I think how very sad that is. If one could just get all the childless women together with all the motherless babies, what a wonderful world it would be.

I'd love to work in a mission field that helps children and brings them and their families to the Lord. I'd love to bring Bibles to countries that have none, bring food to people who have none, comfort the sick and dying in a place where it is most appreciated.

Dace, I would dearly love to read about other's experiences in the mission fields. I've read stories for years that were inspirational and unforgettable...and long for experiences like that in my own life.
