My friend was here last evening wondering aloud where she was going to find a place to "get rid of" three water soaked straw bales in her pickup. I was thrilled to take them for her. I use deep mulch in my garden and I am always on the lookout for straw and water damaged hay bales.

Once again her trash = my treasure.

The same friend was over because she had just picked up the beef from their last steer. She was bringing me the "yucky parts", so I got heart, fresh grassfed beef liver, and the tail (ox tail soup anyone?)! She also brought me a big bag of frozen dog bones, with plenty of meat on them, and is bringing another sack of old freezer burnt meat to turn into dog food later this week.

The only thing I had in trade was a nice pile of fruit wood sticks for use on her grill. What a great friend!

I'll say, Farm! Would that it could be that we all have a friend like that! :th :thumbsup

Here is a pic I took this morning of my new sheeple, Mo, with her new flock of Bettys. She is fitting in well and taking up for herself...and true to her genetics(from her hungry hippo father)very much about the FOOD. The dirty looking spots you see on her face and legs are actually red speckles and spots, also inherited from her sire.

What a nice looking flock you have there Bee! I love the picture with the sun streaming behind them. :)

That Katahdin "hungry" is what helps them convert that rich grass into meat and LOTS of milk for the lambs and for US! Are you planning on milking her at all or are you just planning on raising lambs?
