Wow Bee, I too am glad that bat has you! She is one lucky woman....as you are to have her. Its sorta strange how things like this work out hu? I mean, now, after all these years, the family wants to meet at YOUR place. Boy oh boy do I know THAT one. I hadn't seen most of my family in well .. close to 10 yrs. Once we bought this farm..every Christmas...they all want to meet here. At first I was thinking they wanted to meet here to criticize everything about me...and , in some ways they still do. ( I can smell those animals, you REALLY think that food you canned is safe to eat?) Now...they still come here, but most of the time..I am the one they are looking up to. BOTH of my sisters actually asked me to show them how to can, meat and veggies. :D So, it all works out, one way or another. God DOES work in mysterious ways.

Thanks, Free! :) So very weird, as I have been the black sheep of my family since I was born.

It ought to be interesting..... :p
So when you are the "black sheep" in a family of black sheep - does that mean you are the white one? :p ;)

Or maybe you are the hair sheep! A superior design. :D

Glad things are finally starting to get tidied up. I hope the situation brings the rest of the family closer and gives some closure for Bat. :hugs

You've got a point, Farm!!!

I guess if the whole herd is black that would make me the odd colored one..... :gig

How's this? In a herd of goats, I am the only sheep? :p

Anyhoo....I'm just different than all the rest and always have been. As you can imagine, no one has really embraced that difference. Well..my oldest sister has but no one else.

But I'm fine with that....thank the good Lord I am so different. I love being different than everyone else and I think you all do too or we all wouldn't have so many little things in common. We enjoy that our communities find us odd in our own little perverse way, don't we? I know I do....I sure don't want to be one of the crowd.

Its our independent streak and our nonconformist ideals that make us have this pioneer spirit to not accept the accepted wisdom of the day and to challenge ourselves to look deeper, to do more, to find a better way.

Hurray for all the odd colored, oddball, just plain odd people on this forum....may we live well and prosper! :D

Present company not included as a goat I hope? :hide please please don't :smack me!!!
:bow :bow :bow  :gig :gig

Would you agree with me that we would like to see at least one more arrest, for the aforementioned crimes?

I hope, that the other shoe will drop. :old :fl

Yep, sis...you are definitely NOT one of the herd of goats!

And, yes, it is too bad that the other people involved in this theft are going to let the one take the fall for their actions. I wonder how that is going over in that camp? When thieves fall out....

I just wish they would wake up, repent of their evil ways, dedicate their lives to Christ and be normal....I pray for that. I would much rather that be the outcome of all this strife. How wonderful to have a real family who loved each other!

Guess I just watched the Waltons too much as a kid......

Yesterday was a good day! The Bat came home on Friday and stayed for the weekend. We canned up some hot pepper butter...which isn't really a butter but more a sandwich spread without which I cannot eat a sandwich. :drool

My two older boy's employer went under, which makes them layed off....but we aren't going to panic just yet. We've got an idea for a way to make a little cash until the middle son can get on up in PA in the oil and gas fields...seems they are hiring like crazy. But you have to be 21....he will be in another month or so.

They came over to help me harvest my pumpkin crop and shock up my corn to store for winter feed. The pumpkins were planted later so that I could get pumpkins near the end of Sept but, due to the severe drought here, the pumpkins didn't get very large and their growth cycle was shortened. The plants looked like they would normally appear in Oct.

The corn was also affected by the drought and wasn't fit for human consumption....so it was left on the stock and stored for sheep fodder later on this winter.

We lined all the pumpkins on the porch railings...just because they are so pretty there, and to dry them out for storage. Unfortunately, it isn't cool enough in my dry storage and not dry enough in my cool storage for all these pumpkins....too early for a pumpkin harvest. But they were getting eaten by bugs in the garden, so up they must come.

We had a supper of baked CX thighs, mashed taters and corn...and the boys ate like they hadn't seen food in awhile...real food, anyway. That bachelor livin' ain't all its cracked up to be, huh? :D

We played Spades, laughed and talked until late in the night. It was a good time~plus I got my garden cleared out for planting winter wheat, beets, turnips and clover.

We are going to harvest some of this ginormous apple crop I have~the only thing that grew well this year~and sell it, make apple butter and apple sauce and sell it, and add some other great things and sell them also.

We have a local festival coming up in Sept. that has about 30,000 people coming through our tiny mountain town and we intend to utilize this influx of tourists to make a little cash for the unemployed. ;)

So..if we get our act together, we will be selling apples, apple butter, apple sauce, fresh eggs, homemade bread, popcorn, bottled water and lemonade, homemade soaps, sugar and salt scrubs, bath salts, oatmeal bath. When we get it all set up I will take pics and post them so you all can see how we did it....I've got a plan to make it look homey and country...which is just what we are! :p

We are also going to be making apple butter during the day of the sale so people can see us making it in the copper kettle and try some while they decide to buy or not. Homemade bread, butter and apple butter samples? I predict a good bit of the stuff will be sold.

We are putting it towards the boy's living expenses....no sense in sitting around waiting for the bills to go overdue if you have some way of making a little cash, huh? :D

I'm also giving them the proceeds from the sale of Ugly Betty and the new ram lamb...taking them to the auction this next week. It won't be much but every bit counts!

My Geek son is running pretty cash poor right now as well. I have great plans for him to make some money that involve my old cracked front sidewalk, a sledge and a digging bar. Now... what DID I do with that digging bar?

Well...I figured charity starts at home! :D This way, Farm, they feel like they are actually getting paid for helping you with chores....the boys agreed quite readily to the suggestions.

Justusnak, Oh, how I wish you could be here! We could talk and talk and fleece the city folk who roll down the mountain..... :D

Here's my little cart full of sheep feed and temporary roadside decoration:
