I think you guys are right about Jake...his lovely Lucy disappeared and his sheeple friends are on lockdown in winter quarters.

Barred, it was comical and strange at the same time, to watch those sheep step solemnly to the graveside, each one touched noses with Jake and then stood for a moment with their heads down. I asked if any of them had anything to say about the dearly departed....my mom said she would fall off the bench if they actually spoke! :p

It was surreal to watch them visit quietly and then drift away.

My sheep have proven to be quite sensitive and they mourn their companions deeply and for a long while. Black Betty still mourns Ugly Betty and she has adopted a red hen now that sometimes hitches a ride on her back...I kid you not.

If that had been Jake instead of Lucy, they would have been in full on mourning. Jake is their friend and dances with them every evening....Lucy had too much dignity to consort with sheep. Jake, blessedly, was born without dignity. :p

Jake growled at one of the pups....never heard Jake growl before ~ever~in the whole four years of his life. This is going to take some time.

Sorry for your loss, Bee. :(

Dogs are family, that's for sure. Mine are getting up in years now and I dread that day of parting. My pit is my big baby. So loyal and loving, always at my feet, follows me everywhere I go, knows when I am sad and puts that big ol' head up in my lap and looks at me like "what can I do to help, Mom?" I'll never live a day without a dog in my life. The most true-blue companions I've ever had. Friends can't always be counted on, but a good dog you sure can.

Here's hoping your sweet memories comfort you until you see her again. :hugs

:hugs I'm glad you were able to tell Lucy good-bye. For your own comfort and peace of mind, it was very important. And, the pups are cute. I'm sure having them around will be a big help.

. . .

P.S.S. I wasn't really going to rent out The Mom! ;) I love her far too much to let her go traipsing around the country....without ME. :D
Then go with her when you rent her out. Think of all the great people you'll meet. Maybe you can even give some massage therapy and make some money while you travel. Rent from Mom, payment from therapy.

:hit I just can't stop crying....my Maggie dog disappeared 2 months ago and we never have found her, never got to say goodbye....I keep telling myself that she has to be happily with another family keeping their couch warm. We had 7 years with her and I hope she is making another family as happy as she made us.

I feel for you, Lucy was a beautiful girl.... :hugs

I am so sorry for your loss, Bee. :hugs

Animals are amazing aren't they? I truly belive that they do mourn also.

I love your mom too. And she is cute. I have a pretty cool mom too.

I think it would be fun for the two of you to go traipsing all over the country side visiting with all of us. I dream of doing just that at some point in the future ;)

Lori, I am so sorry your dog went missing on you. I am still missing a cat and a dog. It really sucks when you just don't know what happend to your furry buddy. All you can do is hope for the best. :hugs
