For me, it's finding someone to care for the horses, plus my job. But if I'm able to quit this year like I plan then hopefully next year I'll be able to do more that I want to do.

hope it all works out best for you!

HEY I just scoped out Toms Campground. Nice site map. Have a bunch of sites on waterfront. I like that. Seems very promising so far! :) reasonable prices, about $44 per night, not bad. Pony Penning is July 26, 27,28 Hmmmm might be a trip there LOL
thanks again

If you want to go for pony penning, book well in advance! I've heard it fills up pretty quick for that. If you want to see the ponies swim, but don't want all the crowds or all the hoopla that goes on at that time, they do swim the ponies over at another time, but don't recall exactly when it is, I'm thinking in September. Contrary to what most people believe, the ponies aren't w/out human intervention. They get shots, and I'm not sure of what all else, so they're rounded up at least 1 other time.

OH thanks Deb
that is good to know, I thought it was 1 time per year

yea I bet it is super crowded, it was when I went long long ago lol
but I resigned myself to the fact that having to have my vacations "when Nicole is out of school" is just what I have to do now.

Ugh, so much easier before Kindergarten lol we would just go whenever we felt like it and could skip following the school holiday schedule. Now for the next 17 years I am right in that mass kid schedule for all vacations lol

As much as I would enjoy watching the ponies swim, hmmm...it might be best to NOT go on those days LOL I bet the crowd swell would be far less a few weeks after that event hmmm

Karen, I have no idea about any campgrounds on the east coast. But I do know the issues of trying to fit a huge fifth wheel in an seclusive, oh we gotta go there, fil says our rig will fit, holy carp were gonna die campground!!! :p

For us I have the added benefit of a toy hauler. If I am not mistaken it's 13'6" tall. Trees can be an issue.

I like to look over the Reserve America web site for new places. Looks can be deceiving though.. So after you find a place look it up, google it and find some reviews.

For us the National parks have been a big draw. I usually pin point our destination and then look for KOA's and such in the area. I know it's "developed camping" but comes in handy to keep the kids busy.

I can't wait to see where you go this year. Might give me some ideas. I think we are headed back to Mo. in March. Thought about flying but with 5 it will still be cheaper to take the rig, dog, food, beds and kids with us.

good luck,
g

LOL Gina you know what troubles I sure have then since you have them also....the rigs are so big now with slides that the older type campgrounds have trouble fitting us lol

state parks and national parks yikes state parks can be great or horrifying lol the prices of $14 and $20 per night is wonderful, but not if I can't fit haha

I love most KOAs I have been too. When in doubt, book a KOA cause you got a good chance of hitting a good campground lol

ReserveAmerica Hmmm never been on that site but will hit it right now. I love this site -- RV Park Reviews I truly get a great sense of what the campground is like from the reviews and great info on amentities etc

WOW I LOVE CAMPING

AND YOU are so lucky Gina with that toy hauler. We have been out checking out a PUMA toyhauler 5th wheel. OMG it is wonderful and in the $30K range so it is doable. But not sure if I want to trade this one yet and take on a new payment HA HA so right now we are holding off but toy hauler it is for a golf cart later. OMG golf carts are expensive to rent....ugh

I also love talking about camping lol

Yeah it has come in handy. When we went to that Good Sam park up on the Klamath river in No. Ca. We rolled a 14 ft trailer in the back with a hard bottom inflatable. Then blew it up when we got there. :D

Then we have taken my Rhino to another local campground to use like a golf cart. Though it's far from it. It was a big place in the hills of Temecula so they let the Rhinos come. You just have to behave. Funny thing. Last time I went to their web site they were advertising they fit big rigs. They have a picture of my toy hauler. Is that legal??

Scroll down to the reservations tab at the bottom.

We have a garage on ours which I love. Some people think it's a waste of space but I love having a separate area to stick everything. And with off roading I don't want my bed smelling like gas. For us the little table inside is not big enough for everyone to sit at for dinner. So when we get where were going we set up a 6 ft folding table and use the back as a dining/storage room.

I say if you guys fit in the trailer you have now keep it. They come out with new stuff so often it's impossible to have the latest and grates. An the depreciate so darn fast.

I love camping in my apartment too!!!!

Gina is this YOU?
You lucky lucky girl lol beautiful rig!!

that is what I am hoping to upgrade to on my next upgrade LOL

and the Rhino lol Tony is begging me to buy something just like that right now....hmmm...he gotta get thru me first, as much as I want one, I am keeping my money to pay for the many camping trips I want to take this year haha

that resort is nice Gina I would be staying there!

yea I mentioned to Tony when I make the upgrade, I want to be sure I am ready cause like you said, every year the improvements and changes to the floor plan and options are incredible. I kinda want to be right there when the new stuff happens and with the economy in trouble, bigger rigs, hopefully in a few years, they will be begging to sell those at good low prices. fingers crossed on that one lol

one thing I love about camping (in the big rigs lol) is that it is just a change of scenery. Ah just to relax and see something other than livestock poop haha

We went from small tent, to big tent, to truck camper (Big Horn and very nice so we could pull the boat), to small TT, to bigger TT to this bigger TT haha now up to the toyhauler! :) retirement will be either giant 5th wheel or into the big old motorcoach haha

boy you sure gotta love this type of stuff so many of my friends think I am nuts to "camp" :p

so many of my friends think I am nuts to "camp"

Yeah, until they see the inside of my rig.

Don't you think I should get free camping at least for photo rights??? The funny thing is they now advertise big rig parking. But in order for us to fit in that spot we parked backwards and head into the next spots bbq. Opps!!!

We started with a cab over camper. Very basic. Little shower, bunk, over the cab and my son slept in the cupboard that folds down over the table.

I wanted to upgrade to a used Weekend Warrior. To be sure we still liked the desert. Dh did not want to buy twice. I found the one above on e bay. At a smoking price. It is a company in Mi, called Lakeshore RV. They sell tons of RV's at just above cost to people all over the nation. Dh drove out Chevy there to pick it up. We could of had it delivered but we save like 3 grand this way. I'm kinda glad. It gave him lots of practice pulling the big thing home. :hide

But then he got home and my Chevy 3500 had disappeared. The trailer dwarfed the little truck. So we started looking for the Freightleiner. It took about a year but I found this one on e bay. I should really stay off e bay. :p Anyways it was a smoking deal with a buy it now. So we bought it. Dh flew to FL and drove it home. Get this. The graphics on the truck were already there. They almost match perfect.

I love that truck, it saved our lives last time out. The trailer loaded is at least 14k. It feels good have a 15k truck to pull it with.

Believe it or not the inside of my trailer is pretty basic compared to some they have now. Is a single slide. But I love how open it is when the slide is out.

Anyways. Your giving me the camping bug!!!! :barnie

The guys that owned this thing had an Alpha Toy House, The colors are purple and the gold, ours is a Raptor and the colors are burgundy and gold. You really can't even tell their dif.
