We have a trailer, but since all of my camping right now is w/Misty, I'm back to a tent. I haven't figured out how to pull both a horse trailer and camping trailer at the same time. And, I can't afford either a pickup camper or LQ horse trailer. :/

yea you have to buy one of those fancy camper/horse trailer set ups

whew those are nice....couldn't afford one when I bought my gooseneck trailer but I sure loved them when I looked them over lol

funny cause when we camped at Ocean Lakes at Myrtle Beach, a few campers down was a camper/horse combination...they just didn't bring the horses lol

That's why if I ever get something different, it would be a pickup camper. That way, if I was camping w/out Misty, I wouldn't have the horse part w/me. Plus, I'd miss Misty if I went camping w/a LQ trailer, and didn't have her.

not many campgrounds allow horses

so many people bring their dogs to the sites, but horses, hmmm...we only have like 5 horse campgrounds in my area. they are hard to find around me

I never camped with my horses, just trailer, ride and come home.

I hope to heavens that camping with this muttley is going to be easy :th another reason I bought a very very small dog :th

Karen why don't you just load up your trailer and go park it down the road on that other property you used to farm. Then when you get the urge you can camp whenever you want?

Elijah Clark State Park on the border of GA and SC, on Clark's Hill Lake (or Lake Thurmond, depending on who you ask ;) ) which is ginormous. I personally have not RV camped in there, but have tent camped there several times, (believe it's site #13 that's my fav - RIGHT on the water), and I saw several big RV campers with bump-outs, golf carts, etc, and they fit just fine.

On the reservation page, it gives this info:
Below is the information for Campground : ELIJAH CLARK CAMPGROUND
($28 RV, $25 Tent per night) 40 ft Campsite holds the following equipment: 1 tent, 2 tents, a pop-up trailer, a trailer up to 40', or a motorhome up to 40'. Has water, 20 & 30 amp electrical service, picnic table, grill, fire ring, comfort station with washer/dryer. Maximum 6 people per site. Maximum 2 vehicles per site. All sites are first come, first served. All campsites have cable hookups.

It's been a few years since I've camped there, but it's absolutely beautiful!

When we camp w/the horses, we camp in someone's field. If were lucky, they have an out house, but that's it. If not, I take my portapot w/me. Plus, I have my battery operated shower. It's great to be able to get clean if it's been hot, dry and dusty while you're riding.
