Well then, you'd better get started. Hardly anyone is commenting on my journal and I'm lonely. :hit

Hi Everyone!! It appears that I missed quite a bit in my absence! Ive finally caught up!

I needed to take a break from the computer and revisit my non-cyber life for a bit. Its been good and busy around here for a nice change of pace! And the weather has been fantastic! Heres some of what weve been up to

We were able to get enough shingles this month to cover half the roof of the addition. We got them very cheap from a guy on the other side of town. :thumbsup They are the exact same shingles we had selected at Home Depot, so now we just need to purchase the rest as we had planned; a few bundles at a time.

Rebuilt the planter boxes and moved them up onto the patio. Started some tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, bell peppers and eggplant (Thanks Cindi!) to be moved out to the planter boxes as soon as we get some soil. (Working on finding that with another friend!)

Did some cleanup and maintenance around the property; picked up all the debris from the winds, fixed a leaky sprinkler head, pruned some trees and shrubs, etc.

Cleared the area for the chicken yard expansion and got part of the fence up. In the midst of this project J got two sewing jobs, so weve had a few delays. We did move the larger coop around to the other side of the run so that it would be inside the new yard area. The small run addition I did a while ago will come off and be moved to the back of the new yard and become a broody/grow out pen and there will be enough room to add an additional pen if needed. The yard will be used only during the day and the girls will get locked in their existing run at night.

Ordered my mealworms yesterday and they have been shipped! :clap Excited to see how this works out! :weee

The Old Man next door's birthday was on the 4th and mine was the 12th so on the 10th, we had him over for dinner; pork roast, mashed potatoes and green beans and I baked a chocolate layer cake. :drool It was a nice evening.

Ive been baking like a fool, too! Fresh bread every other day, 2 batches of cinnamon rolls, four batches of crackers and some chocolate cookies. Other than that, weve just been hanging out with each other and watching movies.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LATE! :D

I am SO jealous - I keep reading about everybody planting their veggies and, since we are having a "heat wave" here (it was actually 70 degrees today! All the windows are open, and I have carried my sorry backside outside to soak up some warmth, before the next snowstorm hits :/ ) I want to start playing in the dirt like you guys get to

Congrats on the shingles! Funny how things sometimes work, isn't it?

Hope you take pictures of the new chicken set up, once it's done. I have been thinking we need a small brooder/grow out pen. We just put our roo back in with the ladies, and have our broodiest gal ready to go once the eggs are good and fertile! I'm so excited to try it :weee

Yay on the mealworms! Keep us updated, so I can decide if DS#2 should try it or not.

Glad to 'see' ya back on here ;)
