Bad news yesterday for hubby. He has charcot disease that had made his foot bones dislocate. He will be cast up and surgery scheduled this Wednesday. Looking at a few months out of work. He has to keep weight totally off it.

He was overwhelmed about it and we both have dark humor so I told him I still have the billhook and could take care of it for him. He did laugh and relax some.

So sorry to hear that! Sounds like it'll be a rough road for a couple of months. It'll be hard for you too as I can only imagine that it'll add to your workload. It's good that ya'll can use that sense of humor to get through things!

I also have dark humor and can appreciate your “cheering up”.

I do not miss hurricanes. We tend to get our drenching rains separate from the nasty winds here.

Oh. We haven't had our usual September windstorm yet. That's bad because it's needed to knock all the dead branches down before winter comes.

@Hinotori sorry about foot issues for DH. Hope all goes well with surgery! :hugs :fl

@CrealCritter we're getting a portion of Helene later today and into tomorrow. Outer bands so not as much rain overall, hopefully. We've had rains all week from a coastal disturbance already. Soft ground, rain, wind & trees are a bad combo for power lines.

Critters all fed and eating on pasture -- they'll all be hading to barns when raindrops fall 🤣. I'm in for weekend -- nothing I need.

I had to look up Charcot disease. Does he have it in both feet or only one?

Does he have disability insurance via his employer? I would guess that this would be long term disability, if its for several months.

I was in a wheelchair for three months. Hubs had to modify the exterior stairs with a ramp. I got to really appreciate the handicapped bathrooms at stores. (I shattered my patella, tripping over a border collie we had).

Deep sigh....its almost too much, with your hand and now his foot.
