I don't think I even want to visit! I'll keep my hot weather self right here in the Piney Woods of East Texas!

Going to have a sunny week, cold, but sunshine and no rain. Plans are to go to Groveton Thursday, meet a friend with house jacks and block up the 40' shipping containers. I may stay through Saturday or Sunday. I need to unload my flatbed trailer-into one of the containers. It's loaded with lumber, used tin, cowpanels, and a 16' gate. Only the lumber needs to go in the container. Maybe I can sort it for size as I unload and stack it up. AND all the piles of lumber in the house! THEN I can finish painting and start hauling stuff to the house.

Son has a guy starting tomorrow to wall up the door sized walk though hole in what is going to be my bedroom. And he is going to rip out some damaged sheetrock, take down the tin that is on the front doing a terrible job of keeping out the weather and replace all that. Then I can paint that awful room, put down new flooring and make it livable. No AC/heating vent, so should get interesting. Eh.

Monticello is about 3 hrs from me. Been there several times, not recently but, it's such a walk into history!! Always a place that teaches you something. It's a beautiful farm and house. Extremely inovative for the time.

-10 here. We have a wind chill advisory and no wind at all. Interesting, we are in a little windy micro-climate so no wind is a surprise and relief.

Chickens survived. I've used a heat lamp previous years at below-zero temps. DH says it was for the roosters to prevent their combs from getting frostbite. My only rooster has a walnut comb, so no worries there. I've been feeding fat scraps saved from butchering so they can have a little more energy.

Fire died out last night - oops! So it was chilly! Master bedroom got down to 58 degrees. I'm glad I didn't sleep in there last night! Upstairs bedrooms were about 70. Waiting for the house to warm up, living room is up to 67 now.

I was glad to see my 5-6 day old chicks make it through 12 degrees. I added the incubator top along with the heat lamp and propped it up on the waterer.

Fire died out last night - oops! So it was chilly! Master bedroom got down to 58 degrees. I'm glad I didn't sleep in there last night!

-12 is way to cold to let the fire go out. Your house must be better insulated than mine though. It was 64 in the living/dining room 8' from the still warm and burning stove.
