Well, More COFFEE and I need to get to task,
Have a great day, get LOTS done today so you can have a smoother weekend.

google pic-American Goldfinch-LOVE-LOVE them

if you want to encourage them to be around more leave mullein and chickory alone to flower as they love those seeds. unfortunately they also love thistles and will spread those seeds around.

we have them here each summer and can get reasonably good looks at them in the birdbaths.

ooh, another one they really like for seeds is the tall phlox plants that grow around here (the purple, pink and white ones).

I was in the chicken run and tried not to move so it could finish its bath,, 😆
Yes I washed the dogs bowels 😂
And yes we very much need a bird bath

So Yesterday I did some orchard observation, just hanging out with the trees for a little bit. Even though the orchard is still young, I find it a good place to relax and pray.

I noticed ants and what appeared to me to be ants carrying aphids up to new apple growth that I am eyeing as potential scionwood to collect in February.

I thought it to be very strange behavior. So I did a little research this morning. It appears ants “farm, herd and protect” aphids, then ants “milk” the aphids to release honeydew. Very interesting relationship between ants and aphids.

Here's some further info.

Ofcourse aphids are an undesirable pest so there is a product called tanglefoot to use around the perimeter of a tree trunk. It'll stop ants and other insects like tent caterpillars, etc... from climbing the tree trunk.

I thought this to be good information to share.

I hope you try and enjoy your day, it'll be over before we know it 😁

ants exhibit almost all of the behaviors you see in humans. i've studied them most of my life and learned a great deal.

Good Saturday Morning everyone!
There is some coffee in pot until I go get my 3rd but it's ready and hot.
I think FH and I finally agreed on an invite but can't place the order until we pay the deposit for the venue we want. I don't think $114 is too bad for invites and RSVP cards (both come with envelopes). That's on of the ideas for some reason I can't get the others to attach an image.

Invitation price sounds good -- but, yeah, don't order until venue is definite!! 🤣

Having my coffee. Contemplating my day. At least I slept well and that always helps. 👍 Up before alarms went off.

Hard, heavy rains to end my day yesterday, more predicted for mid day into evening today. A lot of pop up stuff from heat/humidity as a cold front arrives. :idunno anyway -- it's wet!! Had an inch in half hr yesterday.
